Jefferson is one of five major avenues (along with Woodward, Michigan, Grand River, and Gratiot) planned by Judge Augustus B. Woodward in 1805 that extend from downtown Detroit in differing directions. First surveyed in 1807, it was named Main Street. It was later renamed Jefferson Avenue after U.S. PresidentThomas Jefferson, who was a friend of Woodward. Jefferson Avenue was planned to extend due east of downtown, parallel to the Detroit River. Later additions to the road have extended it west of downtown as well, where it continues to travel near the waterfront through the Downriver area.
Jefferson Avenue is a major, seven lane wide, north to south thoroughfare in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. For much of its run in south city Jefferson Avenue and Grand Boulevard take a parallel course, separated by about sixteen blocks. In the northern city, their concurrence varies some.
Transportation
Jefferson Avenue does not connect to the Metrolink light rail service, but MetroBus route 11 (Chippewa) does travel along much of the route.
Detroit is the center of a three-county urban area (population 3,734,090, area of 1,337 square miles (3,460km2), a 2010 United States Census) six-county metropolitan statistical area (2010 Census population of 4,296,250, area of 3,913 square miles [10,130km2]), and a nine-county Combined Statistical Area (2010 Census population of 5,218,852, area of 5,814 square miles [15,060km2]). The Detroit–Windsor area, a commercial link straddling the Canada–U.S. border, has a total population of about 5,700,000. The Detroit metropolitan region holds roughly one-half of Michigan's population.
The highly anticipated mixtape caused the mixtape site DatPiff to crash upon the mixtapes eventual release. Detroit was viewed 1.5 million times on the day of release and was downloaded close to 700,000 - with 500,000 downloads within three hours. It has been downloaded over a million times.
Background
Sean first announced the mixtape on August 20, 2012 via Twitter and a YouTube video titled "Big Sean Mixtape Announcement 1972". Big Sean released three song previews in the shape of short music videos as promotion before the mixtape release; "How It Feel" on August 21, "24 Karats of Gold" on August 28 and "RWT" on September 4. Sean paid for the expenses of the videos himself. The title of the mixtape pays homage to Sean's hometown of Detroit.

Brief video tour of: "333 Midland St. Studio / Gallery" in Highland Park MI., last November 2, 2023. Mr. Onnes of the strong belief that Detroit can be on the threshold of a new Arts and Cultural renaissance and compete at a World International level. Spurred on in part by his new NFP structured, congregated "Affordable" spaces designed for entrepreneur Artists and Cultural workers.
Having past lived in the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada for 23 years, I have seen first hand how such Artist mixed use space can literally transform neighbourhoods. The prime example of "ARTSCAPE" many innovative re use of former schools, TTC Sheds, industrial buildings etc. in Toronto is utterly amazing. ARTSCAPE doing this urban transformative work in Toronto since 1986. As well as many other independent examples of former industrial sites being reinterpreted for new Artist / Cultural Performance use in Toronto.
A great event this past November 2, 2023 at '333 Midland St.' Many in house studio artists had their Art works on display and their studio working spaces open. Music, several Bars and a Food Truck outside. Some amazing Sculpture & Paintings on display by some friendly and very interesting local Artists. The adjacent ,"Annex Studio Gallery" building open as well.
I had a chance to talk briefly with the former New Zeelander, 'Robert Onnes' about his new, "The Big Gallery" project proposed for 14333 Woodrow Wilson Ave. High ceiling Industrial Loft Space for 60 new Artist Studios (110,000 sq. ft., 3.7 acre site), as well as some new retail and restaurants. The new site adjacent to the proposed new 'Joe Louis Trail' where it runs through Highland Park MI. Mr. Onnes a true innovator and risk taker not unlike Henry Ford's first move to Highland Park more than a century ago. Highland Park entirely surrounded by the City of Detroit, and presently in much urban decay and need of civic infrastructure renewal. Perhaps one day municipally absorbed by the City of Detroit itself?
Highland Park awaiting similar new investment which has already been happening in Detroit MI. for some time now. Detroit has already had small parallel examples of successful Artist space reinvestment, communal neighbourhood revitalizing Artist entrepreneurial accretions along Grand River Ave. as well as individual examples North of East Jefferson Ave.
