Cambridge is formed from a variety of institutions which include 31 constituent colleges and over 100 academic departments organised into six schools. The university occupies buildings throughout the city, many of which are of historical importance. The colleges are self-governing institutions founded as integral parts of the university. In the year ended 31 July 2015, the university had a total income of £1.638 billion, of which £397 million was from research grants and contracts. The central university and colleges have a combined endowment of around £5.89 billion, the largest of any university outside the United States. Cambridge is a member of many associations and forms part of the "golden triangle" of leading English universities and Cambridge University Health Partners, an academic health science centre. The university is closely linked with the development of the high-tech business cluster known as "Silicon Fen".
The constituency was not a geographical area. Its electorate consisted of the graduates of the University. Before 1918 the franchise was restricted to male graduates with a Doctorate or MA degree. Sedgwick records that there were 377 electors in 1727. For the 1754–1790 period Namier and Brooke estimated the electorate at about 500.
In the early 18th century the electors were mostly Tory. However the Whig ministers of King George I were able to persuade the King to use the royal prerogative power to confer doctorates, so from 1727 the University returned Whig representatives. Oxford University, where the King did not have the same prerogative power, remained safely Tory (indeed often Jacobite) in sympathies.
Gonville and Caius College (often referred to simply as "Caius" /ˈkiːz/KEEZ) is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. The college is the fourth-oldest college at the University of Cambridge and one of the wealthiest. The college has been attended by many students who have gone on to significant accomplishment, including thirteen Nobel Prize winners, the second-most of any Oxbridge college (after Trinity College, Cambridge).

Dr. Nur Ünal - Quantum Simulations, Topology and Quantum Geometry
I am a theoretical physicist at the University of Cambridge working on condensed matter systems with a specific focus on ultracold quantum gases. I investigate various novel phenomena including but not limited to topologically protected states, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, Floquet systems, superconductivity, localization, synthetic gauge fields, fractional quantum Hall and non-Abelian physics. I am particularly interested in artificial systems cleverly designed to simulate and study these quantum phenomena. As such, although my work is mainly theoretical, I also collaborate closely with experiments to take full advantage of these state-of-the-art quantum simulators (my collaborations include major groups across Europe, UK, US and China, rf. publications). This allows me to both address fundamental pursuits at the forefront of research and explore new ways to harness them in laboratories by breaking them down into their constituents.

Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University
https://blog.wenxuecity.com/myblog/64268/202202/7352.html
Gonville & Caius College (often referred to simply as Caius /kiːz/ KEEZ) is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. Originally founded in 1348, it is the fourth-oldest of the thirty-one colleges at the University of Cambridge and one of the wealthiest. The college has been attended by many students who have gone on to significant accomplishment, including fifteen Nobel Prize winners, the second-most of any Oxbridge college (after Trinity College, Cambridge).
The college has long historical associations with medical teaching, especially due to its alumni physicians: John Caius (who gave the college the caduceus in its insignia) and William Harvey.
Other famous alumni in the sciences include Fra...

i love my room this year, it's big enough that i've been able to split it up into different areas, and it has an en-suite bathroom (not very common post first year accommodation at my college) and a separate bedroom! i had a really fun time decorating it - if you want to see that process you can check out my move-in video from this year! ^.^
i hope you're all staying safe and healthy, and i will see you guys next time (which hopefully won't be as long now that term is finally finished!!)
lots of love,

Other famous alumni in the sciences include Francis Crick (joint discoverer, along with James Watson, of the structure of DNA), James Chadwick (discoverer of the neutron) and Howard Florey (developer of penicillin). Stephen Hawking, previously Cambridge's Lucasian Chair of Mathematics Emeritus, was a fellow of the college until his death in 2018.
The college also maintains reputable academic programmes in many different disciplines, including law, economics, English literature and history. Other notable alumni include former Chancellor of the Exchequer and Father of the House of Commons, Kenneth Clarke, comedian and television presenter Jimmy Carr, John Venn, inventor of the Venn diagram and Alastair Campbell, former aide to Tony Blair.
Several streets in the city, such as Harvey Road, Glisson Road and Gresham Road, are named after alumni of the College. The college and its masters have been influential in the development of the university, founding other colleges like Trinity Hall and Darwin College and providing land on the Sidgwick Site, e.g. for the Squire Law Library.

Cambridge may be home to one of the world’s most revered universities but there's much more to this historic English town. With the picturesque River Cam running through its centre, Cambridge is as beautiful and it is fascinating. New restaurants and bars have invigorated its food scene, offering a blend of creativity and tradition. Welcome to Cambridge.

The college and its masters have been influential in the development of the university, founding other colleges like Trinity Hall and Darwin College and providing land on the Sidgwick Site, e.g. for the Squire Law Library.

welcome to my room for this year!! here, finally, is my cambridge university room tour video, where i take you on a (sometimes a little too in-depth) tour of my final year room ✨
i love my room this year, it's big enough that i've been able to split it up into different areas, and it has an en-suite bathroom (not very common post first year accommodation at my college) and a separate bedroom! i had a really fun time decorating it - if you want to see that process you can check out my move-in video from this year! ^.^
i hope you're all staying safe and healthy, and i will see you guys next time (which hopefully won't be as long now that term is finally finished!!)
lots of love,
Thea xx
