Rabbitt was born to Irishimmigrants in Brooklyn, New York in 1941, and was raised in the nearby community of East Orange, New Jersey. His father was an oil-refinery refrigeration worker, and a skilled fiddle and accordion player, who often entertained in local New York City dance halls. By age twelve Rabbitt was a proficient guitar player, having been taught by his scoutmaster, Bob Scwickrath. During his childhood Rabbitt became a self-proclaimed "walking encyclopedia of country music". After his parents divorced, he dropped out of school at age sixteen. His mother, Mae, explained this action by saying that Eddie "was never one for school [because] his head was too full of music." He later obtained a high school diploma after taking courses at night school.
Eddie Rabbitt is the debut album of Country music artist Eddie Rabbitt. It was released in 1975 under the Elektra Records label. The album produced three singles: "You Get to Me", "Forgive and Forget" and "I Should Have Married You." The latter two both reached the top 15 in country music charts. Also included on the album was "Pure Love". A song written by Rabbitt that had been originally recorded by Ronnie Milsap the previous year.
"Gone Too Far" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Eddie Rabbitt. It was released in February 1980 as the third single from the album Loveline. "Gone Too Far" was Eddie Rabbitt's sixth number one on the country chart. The single stayed at number one for a single week and spent a total of ten weeks on the country chart. It was written by Rabbitt, Even Stevens and David Malloy.
Gone Too Far! is a 2007 play written by British playwrightBola Agbaje. Drawing on Agbaje's ethnic Nigerian background and London upbringing, the play focuses on one day in the lives of several young black people who live in a London council estate. The play explores the numerous tensions and conflicts between the various identities - Nigerian, British, West Indian, black, white, mixed-race and Asian. The play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in February 2007 and received generally positive reviews.
Adaptation
The play was converted into a feature-length film of the same name directed by Destiny Ekaragha and starring Malachi Kirby as Yemi, O.C. Ukeje as Iku, Shanika Warren-Markland as Armani, Adelayo Adedayo as Paris, Tosin Cole as Razer, Michael Maris as Blazer, Miles Mcdonald as Ghost, KG the Comedian as Hi Res, Golda John as Yemi and Iku's Mother and a whole host of other stars as well as the local community. It premiered at the 2013 BFI London Film Festival. The movie is planned to be released in cinemas in 2014.
