Montgomery was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to NPRJazz Profiles "The Life and Music Of Wes Montgomery", the nickname "Wes" was a child's abbreviation of his middle name, Leslie. He came from a musical family; his brothers, Monk (double bass and electric bass) and Buddy (vibraphone and piano), were jazz performers. The brothers released a number of albums together as the Montgomery Brothers. Although he was not skilled at reading music, he could learn complex melodies and riffs by ear. Montgomery started learning the six-string guitar at the relatively late age of 20 by listening to and learning the recordings of his idol, guitarist Charlie Christian; however, he had played a four string tenor guitar since age twelve. He was known for his ability to play Christian's solos note for note and was hired by Lionel Hampton for this ability.
Detroit is the center of a three-county urban area (population 3,734,090, area of 1,337 square miles (3,460km2), a 2010 United States Census) six-county metropolitan statistical area (2010 Census population of 4,296,250, area of 3,913 square miles [10,130km2]), and a nine-county Combined Statistical Area (2010 Census population of 5,218,852, area of 5,814 square miles [15,060km2]). The Detroit–Windsor area, a commercial link straddling the Canada–U.S. border, has a total population of about 5,700,000. The Detroit metropolitan region holds roughly one-half of Michigan's population.
The highly anticipated mixtape caused the mixtape site DatPiff to crash upon the mixtapes eventual release. Detroit was viewed 1.5 million times on the day of release and was downloaded close to 700,000 - with 500,000 downloads within three hours. It has been downloaded over a million times.
Background
Sean first announced the mixtape on August 20, 2012 via Twitter and a YouTube video titled "Big Sean Mixtape Announcement 1972". Big Sean released three song previews in the shape of short music videos as promotion before the mixtape release; "How It Feel" on August 21, "24 Karats of Gold" on August 28 and "RWT" on September 4. Sean paid for the expenses of the videos himself. The title of the mixtape pays homage to Sean's hometown of Detroit.

$1.6 Billion Demolition? The Shocking Plan for Detroit’s RenCen
Thank you for watching!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Motors’ decision to leave Detroit’s iconic Renaissance Center (RenCen) has sparked debate about the building’s future and the city’s ongoing revival. Originally envisioned in the 1970s as a symbol of Detroit’s rebirth, the RenCen became GM’s headquarters in 1996 after a $500 million renovation. However, shifting workplace trends and declining office demand led GM to announce its move to the Hudson’s Detroit development—a $1.4 billion mixed-use project in downtown. The relocation raises questions about the RenCen’s fate, as GM and Bedrock Detroit propose a $1.6 billion redevelopment plan. The controversial proposal includes partial demolition, residential conversions, and pub...
