George Rogers Clark (November 19, 1752– February 13, 1818) was a surveyor, soldier, and militia officer from Virginia and the highest ranking American military officer on the northwestern frontier during the American Revolutionary War. He served as leader of the Kentucky (then part of Virginia) militia throughout much of the war. Clark is best known for his celebrated captures of Kaskaskia (1778) and Vincennes (1779) during the Illinois Campaign, which greatly weakened British influence in the Northwest Territory. Because the British ceded the entire Northwest Territory to the United States in the 1783 Treaty of Paris, Clark has often been hailed as the "Conqueror of the Old Northwest".
Clark's military achievements all came before his 30th birthday. Afterwards he led militia in the opening engagements of the Northwest Indian War, but was accused of being drunk on duty. Despite his demand for a formal investigation into the accusations, he was disgraced and forced to resign. He left Kentucky to live on the Indiana frontier. Never fully reimbursed by Virginia for his wartime expenditures, Clark spent the final decades of his life evading creditors, and living in increasing poverty and obscurity. He was involved in two failed conspiracies to open the Spanish-controlled Mississippi River to American traffic. After suffering a stroke and the loss of his leg, Clark was aided in his final years by family members, including his younger brother William, one of the leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Clark died of a stroke on February 13, 1818.
George Rogers Clark is a plaster bust made by American artist David McLary. Dated 1985, the sculpture depicts American Revolutionary War hero and frontiersmanGeorge Rogers Clark. The bust is located in an alcove on the third floor of the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis, United States. The bust measures 32 inches (81cm) by 20 inches (51cm) by 15 inches (38cm) and sets upon a wooden base measuring approximately 6 inches (15cm) by 19 inches (48cm) by 24.25 inches (61.6cm).

On the posterior of the proper right shoulder is the artists' engraving which says:

The only public high school in Winchester, Kentucky, George Rogers Clark High School opened in the fall of 1963, consolidating the Clark County High School and Winchester High School locally referred to as county high and city high respectively. In 2011 construction began on a new building. In the fall of 2013, and a remarkable 50 years since the opening of the original facility, all student activity and faculty moved to the new facility, keeping the name "George Rogers Clark High School".
He served as an opposition Whip 1954–1964 and as Member of the Commons Chairmen's Panel 1952–54 and 1966. He was a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury and Government Whip, October 1964 – January 1966.
Rogers was appointed a CBE in 1965 and stepped down from parliament in 1970.
George Calvin Rogers, Sr. was the sixth head college football coach
for The Citadel Bulldogs located in Charleston, South Carolina
and he held that position for four seasons, from 1913 until 1919.
His career coaching record at The Citadel was 14 wins, 16 losses, and 3 ties. This ranks him
12th at The Citadel in total wins and 14th at The Citadel in winning percentage. He also served as head baseball coach in 1914 and 1915 and resumed the position from 1921 through 1924.
Rogers graduated from The Citadel in 1910, serving as team captain in football, baseball and track, and earning a total of 12 varsity letters. He also coached at the Georgia Military Academy and at high schools in Charleston.
Rogers later served as superintendent of the Charleston public school system, from 1946 until retiring in June 1955.
