Referred to during development as the ZX81 Colour and ZX82, the machine was launched as the ZX Spectrum by Sinclair to highlight the machine's colour display, compared with the black and white of its predecessor, the ZX81. The Spectrum was ultimately released as eight different models, ranging from the entry level model with 16KB RAM released in 1982 to the ZX Spectrum +3 with 128KB RAM and built in floppy disk drive in 1987; together they sold in excess of 5 million units worldwide (not counting numerous clones).
The Spectrum was among the first mainstream-audience home computers in the UK, similar in significance to the Commodore 64 in the USA. The introduction of the ZX Spectrum led to a boom in companies producing software and hardware for the machine, the effects of which are still seen; some credit it as the machine which launched the UK IT industry. Licensing deals and clones followed, and earned Clive Sinclair a knighthood for "services to British industry".
On June 12, 2015, Monster Beverage closed on the deal to acquire The Coca-Cola Company's energy drinks line.
Full Throttle Coffee (Discontinued)
Full Throttle released three coffee energy drinks of its own in the flavors Caramel, Vanilla, and Mocha in Southeast and Pacific Northwest markets. Coca-Cola claims it is made with "100% premium Arabica coffee", and it was available in 15oz cans, just like Monster's Java line and Rockstar's Roasted line. The drink's tagline was "Coffee. Fully Charged" prior to it being discontinued.
Full Throttle is a computer game released in 1984 for the ZX Spectrum and MSX. The player races a 500cc Grand Prix motorcycle on any of ten of the world's top racing circuits.
Gameplay
After selecting a track to race on, the player starts at the back of the grid, with 39 other bikes. Cornering too quickly will cause a skid, while running off the road slow the bike down, and making contact with another rider forces the bike to a halt, allowing the following riders to stream past the player as the bike gets going again. There are ten circuits in the game, and part of the key to winning is to know the circuit well enough to predict the bends. There is a practice mode, in which the player rides round the track without any other riders, or the player can choose a race of between one and five laps. The best position achieved is shown at the bottom of the menu-screen, along with the player's time ahead of the second-place man. As soon as the track or number of laps is changed, this record is reset.

Sinclair ZX Spectrum Story - Birth of a Classic | Nostalgia Nerd
The ZX Spectrum is 35 years old on 23rd April 2017, and it also holds a very special place in my heart, so it's time to wish it a happy birthday... It's the machine I grew up with and which led me to creating this very channel. I've covered the Sinclair ZX Spectrum in the past, but frankly I didn't do it justice, so we're revisiting Sir Clive's iconic 8 bit home micro in detail, starting with The Sinclair Years in this two part documentary.
This first part explores Clive Sinclair's early years, from his childhood to the formation of Sinclair Radionics in 1961, through the mini amplifier period, pocket calculator, black watch and finally his range of computers, starting with the MK14 and culminating in the ZX Spectrum 128k. We'll look at the people involved behind the Spectrum such as Jim...

Top 50 ZX Spectrum games of 1985 - in under 10 minutes
Hello and welcome to the fourth episode of TOP 50 games in under 10 minutes.
We go back to 1985 today to check what kind of games we played on our beloved ZX Spectrum back then and to see the games that we think are the top 50 games for ZX Spectrum in that year.
Looking back, the 1985 was a year that shown us what can be done with the little old "Speccy".
The graphics and animations in Robin of The Wood, Nodes of Yesod, Mikie and Way of The Exploding Fist were really first class. And we can't forget the 3d masterpiece that was Elite from Firebird Software. We also got some fantastic shooters that year, like Commando and Rambo.

Games are, as always, presented in no particular order.
Have fun and let us know in the comments if you agree with our choices (and if we missed a title that should be on the list), and see you in the next one!

A brand new ZX Spectrum 48k made from completely new parts. Even the tricky bits! Not a brand new concept, but the first one I've made and possibly the first issue 6A motherboard build video?
The motherboard was created by the brilliant Devzine (https://twitter.com/devzine_pl or https://devzine.pl/) Something I wish I had access to when building this is Devzine's GitHub page with all the interactive information you could wish for - https://github.com/pmandes/zx-spectrum-issue6a-replica
If you want to buy one of these boards you can find them on Devzine's Tindie store here: https://www.tindie.com/products/devzine_pl/zx-spectrum-48k-issue-6a-motherboard-replica-pcbs/
This very special ZX Spectrum will be auctioned for charity on the 16th of September 2023 to raise money for the Befriending Scheme

We'll look at the people involved behind the Spectrum such as Jim Westwood and Chris Curry and explore other avenues such as the famous punch up between Clive and Chris in a Cambridge pub. So hold on tight, and let's get cracking with Jet Set F**king Willy.

Games are, as always, presented in no particular order.
Have fun and let us know in the comments if you agree with our choices (and if we missed a title that should be on the list), and see you in the next one!
