Full Speed Ahead is an R&B studio album by Táta Vega. It is her first solo album and was released on Motown's Tamla label in 1976.
The album was produced by Trinidadian native Winston Monseque, who was also her manager. In a November 1976 interview, Vega cited "Try Love from the Inside," "Try God," and "Music in My Heart" as her favorite tracks off of the album.
Flank speed is a nautical term referring to a ship's true maximum speed but is not equivalent to the term full speed ahead. Usually, flank speed is reserved for situations in which a ship finds itself in imminent danger, such as coming under attack by aircraft. Flank speed is very fuel-inefficient and often unsustainable because of propulsion system limitations. The related term Emergency may not be any faster than flank, but indicates the ship should be brought up to maximum speed in the shortest possible time.
Other speeds include one-third, two-thirds, standard, and full. One-third and two-thirds are the respective fractions of standard speed. Full is greater than standard, but not as great as flank.
In surface ship nuclear marine propulsion, the differentiation between full speed and flank speed is of lesser significance, because vessels can be run at or very near their true maximum speed for a sustained duration with little regard for fuel expended, a top consideration of oil powered ships.
Full Speed Ahead is the seventh (and possibly final) studio album by the Americancrossover thrash band D.R.I., which was released in 1995. The album has been met with mixed reviews and was not successful commercially.
To date, Full Speed Ahead remains the last album of new material D.R.I. had released. After the album's release, the band had reached the conclusion they would no longer record any new music. However, they had later withdrawn the statement, recording and releasing the track "Against Me" on their website in 2003.

Táta Vega (born Carmen Rosa Vega, October 7, 1951) is an American vocalist whose career spans theater, film, and a variety of musical genres.
Early life
Vega was born in the borough of Queens, New York. Her parents are Luis Alfredo De La Vega, who served in the United States Air Force, and Rosaura Maltés. As a result of her father's work, the family moved frequently. Before she was even a teenager, the family lived in Panama, Puerto Rico, San Antonio, Texas, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her father nicknamed her Táta, because that was the first word she uttered as a child. She was trying to say "Da-da", but "Ta-ta" came out instead. At the age of 17, she had her name legally changed.
Vega began her professional singing career in 1963. In California (1969–70) she was cast in the Los Angeles, California production of the Broadway musical "Hair". From there went on to join the group Pollution (managed by Max Baer Jr.), led by Dobie Gray (who also appeared in the L.A. Cast of Hair). While performing in another group with vocalists Brie Brandt and Laurie Ann Bell at the Troubadour, Berry Gordy was in the audience and signed them on the spot. As Earthquire, the group released a self-titled album produced by Tom Wilson in 1972 on Motown's Natural Resources label. After the album failed to make a commercial impact, Motown dropped the group, but retained her.
