Who is FRANK BUTLER? #1 of the " SPOTLIGHT " series
Today we are starting the " SPOTLIGHT " series where we feature overlooked drummers and transpose some of their playing. I write out and play what I think he is doing .... We know who the top drummers are and how great they play. But what about what I call the ( 2nd tier) drummers who were somewhat left behind and really didn't get the recognition they deserved? Well today we take a look at one of the greats, who for whatever reason, never got his rightful place in history, be it for drugs, mental illness, personal reasons etc.

"OCEAN is a very interesting aspect of my life. It is part of my DNA. It conveys all things I can't put into words.
Life, loss, love, spirit. As I evolve so too does 'Ocean'. The song was first recorded as part of my first album/cassette,
"Searching For Heritage", which I sold when I busked, then for my first self-titled studio album 12 years ago -- "John Butler (1998)".
The song has been watched online incredibly over 25 million times in various formats, nearly always live, be it from MusicMax Sessions or from one of the many festivals I have had the pleasure to play. I'd like to thank you for your continued support over all these years; it means so much to me. I would like to thank you by offering this first studio recording of 'Ocean' in over a decade as a free download.
I recorded it in my favourite studio, The Compound here in Fremantle Western Australia, a studio you helped me build.
This marks just another fleeting moment in a career that is very much ongoing.
I look forward to bringing you many new songs and albums into the future and continuing this amazing journey with you ALL.
THANK YOU,
J.B"

Legendary Annie Oakley And Frank Butler's Final Resting Place In Versailles, Ohio
Annie Oakley and Frank Butler formed one of the most beloved partnerships in Old West history. Both of them were expert marksmen who traveled the world performing astounding shooting demonstrations, and they shot their way into the hearts of countless fans. Their long-lasting love story and remarkable achievements in the shooting world remain unforgettable to this day.
Annie Oakley was born Phoebe Ann Mosey in Darke County, Ohio in 1860. Her family was destitute and Annie, the fifth of seven children, was forced to begin hunting and trapping at the tender age of six in order to help support the family. Despite these trying circumstances, Annie's natural affinity for shooting shone through, and by age nine she was skilled enough to start selling game to local hotels and restaurants.
At age 15, Annie entered a shooting contest sponsored by a traveling marksman named Frank Butler, who offered $100 to anyone who could outshoot him. Annie defeated Butler easily, hitting all 25 of her targets to his 24. Butler was immediately taken with the young sharpshooter, and it wasn't long before he offered her a spot in his traveling show. Under Butler's tutelage, Annie began polishing her skills and developing the showmanship that would make her one of the world's most sought-after performers.
In 1885, Annie and Frank got married and formed a truly formidable team. Frank would act as the emcee and competition shooter, while Annie dazzled audiences with her stunning feats of marksmanship. Her signature trick, which earned her the nickname "Little Sure Shot," involved shooting a cigarette held in her husband's lips from 30 paces away. She was never once off-target.
Annie's skills were legendary, leading her to be chosen by Buffalo Bill Cody to join his Wild West show. She became the star of the show, thrilling audiences with her sharpshooting skills and her androgynous costumes, complete with buckskin leggings and a ten-gallon hat. Her extraordinary success in the US led to several tours of Europe as well, where she performed for Queen Victoria and other luminaries. Annie Oakley was not just an expert shot, but a true ambassador for America's showmanship and adventurous spirit.
Annie passed away on November 3, 1926, in Greenville, Ohio, from pernicious anemia. Her legacy of talent and showmanship live on in countless books, films, and plays, as well as in the hearts of countless fans.
Frank Butler, born in 1850 in Long Island, New York, was a quick study when it came to shooting. He became an expert in his youth, and by the time he met Annie Oakley, he had already made a name for himself as a traveling marksman. Known for his sharp tongue and quick wit, Frank quickly realized that Annie was the real deal and was amazed at her innate talents.
Frank and Annie married in 1885 and became a legendary shooting duo. Frank was not just a sidekick, but a performer in his own right, displaying his own formidable skills with a rifle. He was the perfect match for Annie, a consummate performer with a seemingly unending supply of dazzling shooting tricks.
Frank accompanied Annie in her travels across the United States and Europe, and proved himself to be one of the best organizers and managers in the entertainment world. Through his careful planning, he ensured that they had enough bookings to keep them busy, and that their performances were always top notch.
Frank continued to work with Annie until his death in 1926, just a few weeks before Annie herself passed away. He was buried alongside her in the Brock Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio. In the end, the love that they shared on and off the stage bound them together forever.
In conclusion, Annie Oakley and Frank Butler were more than just a talented pair of performers. They were pioneers in a new kind of entertainment, using their incredible shooting skills to thrill audiences and inspire generations of men and women to pursue their own dreams of adventure and success. These two legendary figures, whose lives were so intertwined, represent one of the most iconic partnerships in American history.
