Apollo5: Veni Domine - Francisco Guerrero
The critically acclaimed British vocal ensemble Apollo5 sings Francisco Guerrero's motet 'Veni Domine'.
Veni Domine, et noli tardare.
Veni ad salvandum nos, Domine Deus noster.
et ostende faciem tuam, et salvi erimus.
Sicut mater consolatur filios, consolaberis nos.
Veni Domine, et noli tardare.
Et gaudebit cor nostrum corde perfecto.
Veni Domine, et noli tardare.
Come, Lord, and do not delay.
Come and save us, O Lord our God.
And show Thy face and make us safe.
As a mother consoles her children, so shall you console us.
Come, Lord, and do not delay.
And our heart shall rejoice in Thy perfect heart.
Come, Lord, and do not delay.

Interpretan: Orchestra of the Renaissance, Josep Cabré y Simón Davis (cantos greagorianos).
Dirigen: Richard Cheetham (principal), Michael Noone (invitado).

In Passione positus Iesus – sacred motet for Passiontide
Pater mi, si possibile est, transeat a me calix iste
et clamans in cruce dicens:
Deus, Deus meus ut quid dereliquisti me in manus tuas Domine
commendo Spiritum meum consummatum est.
In his Passion, Jesus, when sacrificed for us,
cried out trembling: My soul is sad unto death.
Watch with me. And in his agony, pleading, he said:
My Father, if it is possible, take this cup from me.
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me;
Into thy hands O Lord I commend my spirit. It is finished.

That, even newly born,
Love moves you to tears.
In this mortal guise,
You show us well what love is,

You exchange it for weeping.
Laughter goes well with us,
You accept the weeping,

Published in Guerrero's 1555 Sacrae cantiones printed in Seville.
This is from the ‘O Antiphons’ of Advent used before the Magnificat at Vespers.

Francisco Guerrero Perez, often referred to as the Mexican Ripper, was a notorious serial killer in 19th-century Mexico City. Operating between the 1880s and 1908, Guerrero targeted vulnerable women, primarily prostitutes, luring them with promises of work or money before brutally assaulting and murdering them. Welcome back to Wildwestfaces! In today’s video, we delve into the chilling story of Francisco Guerrero Pérez, a notorious Mexican serial killer who earned the sinister nickname "El Chalequero." Operating in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Guerrero’s reign of terror spanned from 1880 to 1888, during which he brutally murdered at least twenty women of the night in Mexico City. These heinous crimes were marked by a distinct pattern that would define his twisted legacy.
Guerrero’s modus operandi was methodical and cold, making him a prime example of what criminologists call an organized, sedentary killer. As he continued his gruesome spree, his crimes drew comparisons to one of the most infamous serial killers in history, Jack the Ripper, due to the eerie similarities in their techniques and motivations.
Despite his gruesome crimes coming to an apparent halt in 1888, Guerrero resurfaced in 1908 with one final victim, marking a tragic and terrifying conclusion to his bloody saga. In this video, we will explore the details of his murders, the investigative efforts to capture him, and the chilling psychological profile of "El Chalequero" that continues to haunt the annals of criminal history. Stay with us as we take a deep dive into the life of this deadly predator and the chilling legacy he left behind in Mexico City.
