The System (Nazism)
"The System" (German: Das System) was a derogatory term used by the Nazis to denote contemptuously the Weimar Republic and its institutions. In Nazi publications and propaganda, the word was used in a number of compounds: for example, the period from the German Revolution of 1918–1919 to the Nazi seizure of power (German: Machtergreifung) in 1933 was called "The time of the System" (German: Systemzeit) and political opponents of the Nazis from this period were called "System parties", "System politicians" or the "System press". After the Nazi takeover, the term was quickly adopted to everyday use.
Another Nazi phrase used for the republic and its politicians was "the November criminals" or "the regime of the November criminals" (German: November-Verbrecher), referring to the month the republic was founded in. This term was used also by other nationalistic right-wing groups.

The System (Gaelic football)
In Gaelic football, "The System" is the style of play pioneered by the Donegal senior football team during the 2010s. It is regarded as having caused a revolution in the sport, with establishment counties unable to comprehend it or work out how to deal with it. The System has been used to great effect during the managerial reign of Jim McGuinness, with Donegal smothering traditionally stronger counties to win two Ulster Senior Football Championships and one All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in the space of two years.
Donegal's winning of the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship is considered "one of the great GAA managerial coups" in history. Prior to this Donegal had had little success in the Championship since 1992. Now they are the "FC Barcelona of Gaelic football"—with Michael Murphy cast as the Lionel Messi of the team.Admirers of "The System" from other sports include Europe's 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley and the soccer manager Neil Lennon.

Woman
A woman is a female human. The term woman is usually reserved for an adult, with the term girl being the usual term for a female child or adolescent. The term woman is also sometimes used to identify a female human, regardless of age, as in phrases such as "women's rights". "Woman" may also refer to a person's gender identity. Women with typical genetic development are usually capable of giving birth from puberty until menopause. In the context of gender identity, transgender people who are biologically determined to be male and identify as women cannot give birth. Some intersex people who identify as women cannot give birth due to either sterility or inheriting one or more Y chromosomes. In extremely rare cases, people who have Swyer syndrome can give birth with medical assistance. Throughout history women have assumed or been assigned various social roles.
Etymology
The spelling of woman in English has progressed over the past millennium from wīfmann to wīmmann to wumman, and finally, the modern spelling woman. In Old English, wīfmann meant "female human", whereas wēr meant "male human". Mann or monn had a gender-neutral meaning of "human", corresponding to Modern English "person" or "someone"; however, subsequent to the Norman Conquest, man began to be used more in reference to "male human", and by the late 13th century had begun to eclipse usage of the older term wēr. The medial labial consonants f and m in wīfmann coalesced into the modern form "woman", while the initial element, which meant "female", underwent semantic narrowing to the sense of a married woman ("wife"). It is a popular misconception that the term "woman" is etymologically connected with "womb", which is from a separate Old English word, wambe meaning "stomach" (of male or female; modern German retains the colloquial term "Wampe" from Middle High German for "potbelly"). Nevertheless, such a false derivation of "woman" has appeared in print.

Nancy Benoit
Nancy Elizabeth Benoit (née Toffoloni, formerly Daus and Sullivan; May 21, 1964 – June 22, 2007) was an American professional wrestling valet and model. She was best known for her appearances with Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling in the mid-1990s under the ring name Woman.
On June 22, 2007, she and her son were killed by her husband, wrestler Chris Benoit, who committed suicide two days later.
Early life
After graduating DeLand High School, Nancy got a job answering phones at State Farm Insurance. When George Napolitano needed a beautiful young girl for the cover of the June 1984 edition of the pro-wrestling magazine Wrestling All Stars, fellow photographer Bill Otten suggested the 20-year-old Nancy Toffoloni Daus for the role. Nancy, who had worked as a model, often sat alongside her then-husband Jim. She had also been selling programs at the Orlando shows and appeared as Para in the old "Apartment Wrestling" features. It was on this shoot where she met Kevin Sullivan, who eventually wanted her to be a part of his wrestling entourage. After months of convincing, Nancy finally became an on-air valet, taking the ring name "Fallen Angel".

Endurance (1912 ship)
Endurance was the three-masted barquentine in which Sir Ernest Shackleton sailed for the Antarctic on the 1914 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. She was launched in 1912 from Sandefjord in Norway and was crushed by ice, causing her to sink three years later in the Weddell Sea off Antarctica.
Design and construction
Designed by Ole Aanderud Larsen, Endurance was built at the Framnæs shipyard in Sandefjord, Norway and fully completed on 17 December 1912. She was built under the supervision of master wood shipbuilder Christian Jacobsen, who was renowned for insisting that all men in his employment were not just skilled shipwrights, but also be experienced in seafaring aboard whaling or sealing ships. Every detail of her construction had been scrupulously planned to ensure maximum durability, for example every joint and every fitting cross-braced each other for maximum strength.
The ship was launched on 17 December 1912 and was initially christened Polaris (eponymous with Polaris, the North Star). She was 144 feet (44 m) long, with a 25 feet (7.6 m) beam and measured 348 tons gross. Though her black hull looked from the outside like that of any other vessel of a comparable size, it was not. She was designed for polar conditions with a very sturdy construction. Her keel members were four pieces of solid oak, one above the other, adding up to a thickness of 85 inches (2,200 mm), while its sides were between 30 inches (760 mm) and 18 inches (460 mm) thick, with twice as many frames as normal and the frames being of double thickness. She was built of planks of oak and Norwegian fir up to 30 inches (760 mm) thick, sheathed in greenheart, a notably strong and heavy wood. The bow, which would meet the ice head-on, had been given special attention. Each timber had been made from a single oak tree chosen for its shape so that its natural shape followed the curve of the ship's design. When put together, these pieces had a thickness of 52 inches (1,300 mm).

ENDURANCE
ENDURANCE (Environmentally Non-Disturbing Under-ice Robotic Antarctic Explorer) is an autonomous underwater vehicle designed to map in three dimensions the geochemistry and biology of underwater terrains in Antarctica. The vehicle was built and designed by Stone Aerospace, and is the second incarnation of the DEPTHX vehicle, which was significantly reconfigured for the challenges particular to the Antarctic environment.
The principal investigator for the ENDURANCE project was Earth and environmental scientist Dr. Peter Doran of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Bill Stone, CEO of Stone Aerospace, was a co-investigator, along with Dr. John Priscu of Montana State University, and Dr. Chris McKay of NASA Ames Research Center. The project was funded by the NASA ASTEP program as well as by the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program.
The name of ENDURANCE is a backronym in tribute to Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic exploration ship Endurance.
Lake Bonney
The vehicle completed two field seasons in Lake Bonney in the Dry Valleys of Antarctica in 2008 and 2009.

History may not repeat itself, but one can still learn from it. The years of the Weimar Republic were scarred by post-war trauma, political extremism, street fighting, hyper-inflation and widespread poverty. But they also saw economic boom, the establishment of a liberal democratic order and a parliamentary party system. Nobody could really imagine that the Nazis would brush aside the achievements of this young democracy just a few years later. But there were signs, warnings even that all was not well.
So how does that resonate today? How do today’s right-wing populist movements and parties achieve their political aims? Which slogans, images and stereotypes played a role then, and which ones are playing a role now?
The film also looks beyond Germany’s borders. How has Europe changed in the last few years and how have far-right movements been able to gain such influence? In the interwar period, democracies across the continent collapsed one after the other like a house of cards. What about today? Riding on the coat-tails of the political party the Alternative for Germany (AfD) the far-right has become a factor in both national and state parliaments, united by nationalist and often racist ideologies directly linked to those of the 1930s. At that time, global economic crisis and mass unemployment drove people straight into the fascists’ arms. So what will happen if crisis strikes now? Are our democracies and their achievements today any more stable than they were in the years before the Second World War?

John: ‘One sunny afternoon in Bermuda, it suddenly hit me what women do for us… everything that I was taking for granted – because that’s the way we were brought up. My history of relationships with women is very poor – very macho, very stupid, but pretty typical of a certain type of man, which I was, I suppose – a very insecure, sensitive person acting out very aggressive and macho. Trying to cover up the feminine side, which I still have a tendency to do, but I'm learning. I'm learning that it's all right to be soft and allow that side of me out. Women really are the other half of the sky, as I whisper at the beginning of the song. It’s a 'we' or it ain’t anything.'
ABOUT THE VIDEO
The video for 'Woman' was directed and edited by Yoko Ono Lennon as a tribute to John in early 1981, during a very raw time soon after John's murder, while Yoko was still in mourning. The footage of John & Yoko together had been directed by their old friend, photographer Ethan Russell on 26 November 1980 - a sunny autumn day in Central Park in the area that would later be called 'Strawberry Fields' and at the Sperone Westwater Fischer Gallery at 142 Greene Street in SoHo, New York. There are further shots of a grieving Yoko (in a white fur coat or grey jacket), directed by Yoko and filmed at the Dakota and alone on the benches at Strawberry Fields in January 1981, that are combined with album covers, artwork, and a selection of photos by John, Bob Gruen, Nishi F. Saimaru, David Nutter, Kishin Shinoyama, Iain Macmillan, David Spindel, Paul Goresh and others. The video was remastered in 2003 from all the original footage and further enhanced in HD in 2019.

ABOUT THE VIDEO
The video for 'Woman' was directed and edited by Yoko Ono Lennon as a tribute to John in early 1981, during a very raw time soon after John's murder, while Yoko was still in mourning. The footage of John & Yoko together had been directed by their old friend, photographer Ethan Russell on 26 November 1980 - a sunny autumn day in Central Park in the area that would later be called 'Strawberry Fields' and at the Sperone Westwater Fischer Gallery at 142 Greene Street in SoHo, New York. There are further shots of a grieving Yoko (in a white fur coat or grey jacket), directed by Yoko and filmed at the Dakota and alone on the benches at Strawberry Fields in January 1981, that are combined with album covers, artwork, and a selection of photos by John, Bob Gruen, Nishi F. Saimaru, David Nutter, Kishin Shinoyama, Iain Macmillan, David Spindel, Paul Goresh and others. The video was remastered in 2003 from all the original footage and further enhanced in HD in 2019.

What resemblance do today’s ethnonationalistic ideologies bear to those which surged during the rise of the Nazis in the Weimar-era? Quite a lot, this documentary shows. Germany’s far-right neo-nazi scene is now bigger than at any time since National Socialism.
History may not repeat itself, but one can still learn from it. The years of the Weimar Republic were scarred by post-war trauma, political extremism, street fighting, hyper-inflation and widespread poverty. But they also saw economic boom, the establishment of a liberal democratic order and a parliamentary party system. Nobody could really imagine that the Nazis would brush aside the achievements of this young democracy just a few years later. But there were signs, warnings even that all was not well.
So how does that resonate today? How do today’s right-wing populist movements and parties achieve their political aims? Which slogans, images and stereotypes played a role then, and which ones are playing a role now?
The film also looks beyond Germany’s borders. How has Europe changed in the last few years and how have far-right movements been able to gain such influence? In the interwar period, democracies across the continent collapsed one after the other like a house of cards. What about today? Riding on the coat-tails of the political party the Alternative for Germany (AfD) the far-right has become a factor in both national and state parliaments, united by nationalist and often racist ideologies directly linked to those of the 1930s. At that time, global economic crisis and mass unemployment drove people straight into the fascists’ arms. So what will happen if crisis strikes now? Are our democracies and their achievements today any more stable than they were in the years before the Second World War?

The System (Nazism)
"The System" (German: Das System) was a derogatory term used by the Nazis to denote contemptuously the Weimar Republic and its institutions. In Nazi publications and propaganda, the word was used in a number of compounds: for example, the period from the German Revolution of 1918–1919 to the Nazi seizure of power (German: Machtergreifung) in 1933 was called "The time of the System" (German: Systemzeit) and political opponents of the Nazis from this period were called "System parties", "System politicians" or the "System press". After the Nazi takeover, the term was quickly adopted to everyday use.
Another Nazi phrase used for the republic and its politicians was "the November criminals" or "the regime of the November criminals" (German: November-Verbrecher), referring to the month the republic was founded in. This term was used also by other nationalistic right-wing groups.

ABOUT THE SONG
John: ‘One sunny afternoon in Bermuda, it suddenly hit me what women do for us… everything that I was taking for granted – because that’s the way we were brought up. My history of relationships with women is very poor – very macho, very stupid, but pretty typical of a certain type of man, which I was, I suppose – a very insecure, sensitive person acting out very aggressive and macho. Trying to cover up the feminine side, which I still have a tendency to do, but I'm learning. I'm learning that it's all right to be soft and allow that side of me out. Women really are the other half of the sky, as I whisper at the beginning of the song. It’s a 'we' or it ain’t anything.'
ABOUT THE VIDEO
The video for 'Woman' was directed and edited by Yoko Ono Lennon as a tribute to John in early 1981, during a very raw time soon after John's murder, while Yoko was still in mourning. The footage of John & Yoko together had been directed by their old friend, photographer Ethan Russell on 26 November 1980 - a sunny autumn day in Central Park in the area that would later be called 'Strawberry Fields' and at the Sperone Westwater Fischer Gallery at 142 Greene Street in SoHo, New York. There are further shots of a grieving Yoko (in a white fur coat or grey jacket), directed by Yoko and filmed at the Dakota and alone on the benches at Strawberry Fields in January 1981, that are combined with album covers, artwork, and a selection of photos by John, Bob Gruen, Nishi F. Saimaru, David Nutter, Kishin Shinoyama, Iain Macmillan, David Spindel, Paul Goresh and others. The video was remastered in 2003 from all the original footage and further enhanced in HD in 2019.
