Steve Wright - The Suffolk Strangler | Killing Spree HD | True Lives
In the winter of 2006 the town of Ipswich became home to one of Britain's most infamous Spree Killings. With a reputation for being quiet, reserved and straight laced, no-one suspected 50 year old Steven Wright to be responsible for the murder of five women. Whilst his wife was working night shifts, Wright slipped in to old familiar habits, curb crawling the streets and picking up a string of prostitutes. He built up a relationship with many of t...

When a killing spree occurs, the inevitable reaction is one of shock and disbelief at the unexpected and unimaginably violent chain of events. This compelling new series features such murders in forensic detail, drawing upon the testimony of those involved and those who knew the perpetrator to tell the story behind each chain of rapidly executed killings.
In the winter of 2006, an infamous killing spree took place at different locations near Ipswich. After five female sex workers were murdered in quick succession, the press soon labelled the unknown killer as the Suffolk Strangler. The man responsible was 48-year-old forklift driver Steve Wright, who had a reputation for being quiet, reserved and straight-laced. Only later did it emerge that he had a history of gambling, had made a number of suicide attempts and frequently visited prostitutes. Moving into the heart of Ipswich's red-light district had given Wright the perfect opportunity to lead a double life. While his partner Pamela was working night shifts, he slipped into old familiar habits, kerb-crawling and picking up prostitutes.

Enjoying a ROAD TRIP AROUND SUFFOLK IN A VINTAGE CAR// In this vintage car adventure, we're taking a road trip around Suffolk in a Morris Minor Traveller!
This is a fun and adventurous trip and such a unique experience. We'll travel along the coast and explore some of the beautiful villages and towns in Suffolk like Thorpeness, Walberswick and Southwold.
This was far too short! We absolutely LOVED our day with this lovely vintage Morris Minor. Kirsten & Joerg xx

In the winter of 2006 the town of Ipswich became home to one of Britain's most infamous Spree Killings. With a reputation for being quiet, reserved and straight laced, no-one suspected 50 year old Steven Wright to be responsible for the murder of five women. Behind closed doors the forklift driver had a history of gambling, various suicide attempts and was harbouring a habit for prostitution use. What he was about to do would shock Britain and see him labelled as the 'Suffolk Strangler.' Moving into the heart of Ipswich's red light district was the perfect opportunity for Wright to lead a double life. Whilst his wife was working night shifts, Wright slipped in to old familiar habits, curb crawling the streets and picking up a string of prostitutes. He built up a relationship with many of the women, becoming a regular customer and gaining their trust. These intimate bonds would lead to fatal consequences. The spree began in October 2006 when the first victim disappeared from the red light district in Ipswich. Within a matter of weeks five women would be reported missing and Suffolk constabulary would be at the centre of a major manhunt. However, it was only a matter of time before Steven Wright became too bold and confident - a single mistake would see DNA evidence link him to the crimes. With insight from those who lived through the crimes, investigated the case and knew him best, this episode explores the story of Steven Wright, and what caused him to embark on his killing spree.

My first adventure in the county of Suffolk! We are back at the Great British seaside this week as I take you on a 4K walking tour of the seafront of Felixstowe! If you’re looking for a dog friendly resort with something to do for all the family, then this is the place to go.
Starting off at the picturesque seafront gardens that sit on cliffs just behind the beach. I make my way down the promenade, and on the way I pass numerous tourist attractions and things to see and do, which include the Spa Pavilion theatre and one of the big local landmarks Felixstowe Pier - recently reconstructed with a new building containing amusements, bowling and a cafe / bar. Of course I have to stop to get a beer in the September sunshine!
Walk with me as I check out what Felixstowe south has to offer, including Mannings Amusements and Beach Street, which used to be a fairground and now has arcades, mini golf, a market and shipping containers that have been converted into independent shops, street food and cafes.
Finally, I explore the Landguard Nature Reserve and Port of Felixstowe - the UK’s LARGEST container port - tourists travel from miles around to watch ships pass through the Harwich harbour. There’s even the Landguard fort attraction which was sadly closed when I visited.
Perfect for a daytrip from London, couples break, solo trip or a family holiday, come and see why this spectacular town is one of the best places to visit in Suffolk whatever the weather!
If you don’t know me already, I’m Jack and I’m exploring the UK, making travel vlogs as I go. I’d be so grateful for your support, so please do like the video, leave a comment and subscribe to the channel!

A visit to Andersonstown, Belfast City in 2012
A slideshow of photos I took during my first visit to Andersonstown in Belfast City on Sunday 1st April 2012.
Andersonstown is a suburb of Belfast City, at the foot of the Black Mountain and Divis Mountain. It is in West Belfast. It contains a mixture of public and private housing and is largely a working-class area with a strong Irish nationalist and Irish Catholic tradition. The district is sometimes colloquially referred to as "Andytown".This area stretches between the Shaws Road, the Glen Road and the Andersonstown Road.
The area is in County Antrim. Historically, it was part of the Barony of Belfast Upper, the parish of Shankill and the townland of Ballydownfine (from Irish Baile Dúin Finn, meaning 'townland of the fort of Finn'. The area was also known as Whitesidetown after the fa...

Protest to stop privatisation of Andersonstown Leisure Centre, Belfast 1st March 2014
Hands off Our Leisure Centres
Protest this Saturday 1pm.
Outside Andersonstown Leisure Centre
At a packed meeting in Andersonstown Leisure, a campaign was formed to stop our leisure centres being handed over to unaccountable trusts. A proposal was made that there should be a protest outside Andersonstown Leisure centre this Saturday. This was voted on and unanimously agreed by everyone in the room. The plan is to widen the campaign out across the city and to work in conjunction with trade Unions representing workers.
As a beginning to this important campaign, everyone should get down to Andersonstown leisure Centre this Saturday at 1pm.
Spread the word far and wide.

Homebase Boucher Rd Belfast, Final Hour open – Joseph Was the Last to Leave!
Joseph returned to Homebase Boucher Road for its final hour of trading, hoping to catch the closing announcements and see the store one last time. The staff were incredibly kind, chatting away with him, and the assistant manager, Damien, even gave him a special tour of the warehouse, which Joseph absolutely loved (that will be in a separate video!). Huge thanks to all the lovely staff—you are fantastic, and we truly appreciate you all.
In this video, you can see how much the store has changed since yesterday—now almost completely empty. Damien also gave us permission to go upstairs for a final look from above, where we caught the last-ever closing announcement. As a special farewell gift, Joseph was given a large photo of the store from 2007, taken just after it reopened following the fir...

The area was also known as Whitesidetown after the family that owned the land, but they were dispossessed for the support they gave to the Society of United Irishmen, resulting in a change of name. In 1832, it was described as a village consisting of eleven families, some of whom were named Anderson. These were likely to have been from the Scottish Lowlands.
Previously a rural farming area, it rapidly developed in the 1950s and 1960s as the local housing authority built hundreds of houses for people who were rehoused during the redevelopment of the lower Falls Road district. As the population of the area increased, Twinbrook and Poleglass housing estates were built further out of Belfast. The area is bounded by Andersonstown Road on the south, Glen Road on the north and Shaw's Road on the west.
The Black Mountain district electoral area consists of six electoral wards: Shaw's Road, Andersonstown, Colin Glen, Turf Lodge, Falls Park and Beechmount. The electoral ward named Andersonstown and that named Shaw's Road covers the area of Andersonstown.
There are five Catholic churches in the area: St Agnes' and St. Michael's and St Teresa's, St Matthias', and Holy Spirit Church.
There are several schools including Holy Child Primary School and De La Salle College. St Mary's Christian Brothers' Grammar School and the Christian Brothers School are located on the upper Glen Road.
Casement Park, the main Gaelic Athletic Association stadium for Antrim GAA, is in Andersonstown. At present the ground is closed as it is awaiting to be redeveloped which has been delayed due to locals objecting to it. Back when these photos were taken on 1st April 2012 Casement Park was still in use and Antrim played Limerick in Division 1B in the National Hurling League that day.
Donegal Celtic F.C., an association football club, play their home games at Donegal Celtic Park on Suffolk Road on the outskirts of Andersontown. In 1990, an Irish Cup game between Donegal Celtic and Linfield F.C., a club with a mainly Protestant following, was moved away from the area on the orders of police due to fears that violence would break out. The game was played at Windsor Park, but despite the move a riot broke out anyway.
On the Glen Road, the path that leads into the mountains known as Glen Road Heights is home to both Sport & Leisure Swifts F.C. and St. Teresa's GAC, with the two clubs grounds being almost adjacent to one another.

As a special farewell gift, Joseph was given a large photo of the store from 2007, taken just after it reopened following the fire. He absolutely loves it.
It was a bittersweet moment as Joseph became the very last customer to leave the store forever. A true end of an era.
