Ebbw Vale (/ˈɛbuːveɪl/; Welsh:Glyn Ebwy) is a town at the head of the valley formed by the Ebbw Fawr tributary of the Ebbw River in Wales. It is the largest town and the administrative centre of Blaenau Gwentcounty borough. The Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr conurbation has a population of roughly 33,000. It has direct access to the dualled A465T "Heads of the Valleys" trunk road and borders the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Early History
There is evidence of very early human activity in the area.
The constituency was first contested in 1918 and was used until 1983. It comprised the north-western part of the historic county of Monmouthshire, in south-east Wales.
The seat was a county constituency, formed as a division of Monmouthshire. The areas, which comprised the seat, were Ebbw Vale, Rhymney and Tredegar. The division included three Urban District council areas, one named after each town. The boundaries were left unchanged throughout the existence of the Ebbw Vale constituency.
Ebbw Vale Football Club (Welsh:Clwb Pêl-droed Glyn Ebwy) were a football team from Ebbw Vale, South Wales.
Ebbw Vale played in the first season of the League of Wales in 1992-93. The club then finished 11th before finishing 3rd in two successive seasons to 1997-98. During the years when they finished 3rd the Giles brothers, Paul and David were key members of the team. The manager at the time was John Lewis.
Their goalkeeper Stewart Gray, who played for them in the late 70s, had 22 penalties shot at him in one season and saved an impressive total of 20. He later had a short spell at Aston Villa and previous early trials at Swindon Town (who he turned down at the age of 17).

In 1985 the Company started managing third party funds. In 1989 the Company established a partnership with Germany’s HypoVereinsbank

In 2008 Friends Provident announced its intention to divest its shareholding in F&C Asset Management. This was completed in 2009.
On 7 May 2014, F&C Asset Management plc was acquired by Bank of Montreal through its wholly owned subsidiary, BMO Global Asset Management (Europe) Limited.
