It is named after County Donegal, Ireland. The original township of Donegal was organized by the court of Chester County in 1722, and was one of the two townships which composed Lancaster County at the time of its erection in 1729. On the 24th of June, 1838, a division was effected, whereby the old township was constituted into two townships, to be separately and distinctly recognized as East Donegal and West Donegal.
The settlers of East Donegal were of Scotts-Irish descent and were primarily farmers who were drawn to the area by the rich soils and plentiful streams. Thus the abundant produce provided by the land was able to be made into flour by the many mills which sprang up in the area.
Early settlers, Arthur Patterson and others, organized a Presbyterian Church at Donegal in 1726, and erected the old church edifice at that time. The first three pastors of it were from Scotland. Bartram Galbraith, grandson of James Galbraith, was Lieutenant for Lancaster County, the first three years of the Revolution, and many members of that family served in various official positions, as also did Alexander Lowrey and several of that family.
Lancaster Countylocal /ˈlæŋkᵻstər/, (Pennsylvania German: Lengeschder Kaundi) sometimes nicknamedthe Garden Spot of America or Pennsylvania Dutch Country, is a county located in the south central part of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2010 census, the population was 519,445. Its county seat is Lancaster.
The County of Lancaster is a popular tourist destination, with the Amish community there being a major attraction. The term Pennsylvania Dutch comes from Pennsylvania German language, derived from the German Deutsch ('German'), Dutch Duits ('German'), Diets ('Dutch' which in this usage has nothing to do with the people or language of the Netherlands): they are the descendants of Germans (Deutsche) who immigrated in the 18th and 19th centuries for the freedom of religion offered by William Penn. They were also attracted by the rich soil and mild climate of the area. Also attracted to promises of religious freedom, French Huguenots fleeing religious persecution settled this area in 1710. There were also significant numbers of English, Welsh and Ulster Scots (also known as the Scotch-Irish in the colonies).
Under the Electoral Act 1923, the constituency's boundaries remained unchanged, and were defined simply as "the administrative county of Donegal". However, its representation was increased from 6 to 8 seats.
The Parliaments of England by Henry Stooks Smith (1st edition published in three volumes 1844-50), 2nd edition edited (in one volume) by F.W.S. Craig (Political Reference Publications 1973)
Parliamentary Election Results in Ireland, 1801-1922, edited by B.M. Walker (Royal Irish Academy 1978)
Pennsylvania wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The climate in Pennsylvania is mild compared to surrounding states, with the moderating effects of Lake Erie to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. 119 wineries are located in all parts of the state, including five designated American Viticultural Areas. Pennsylvania is the eighth-largest wine producing state in the country.
Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) - 12 October 2022
Prime Minister's Questions with BSL interpretation is available on Parliament Live: https://youtu.be/jFzYbtjlj_E
Prime Minister's Question Time, also referred to as PMQs, takes place every Wednesday the House of Commons sits. It gives MPs the chance to put questions to the Prime Minister, Liz Truss MP.
The Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer, asks six questions and the leader of the second largest opposition party asks two.
In most cases, the session starts with a routine 'open question' from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. MPs across the House of Commons then ask follow-up questions on any topic.

Lecture 146: The legacy of the Irish Parliamentary Party by Martin O'Donoghue
The Legacy of the Irish Parliamentary Party in Independent Ireland, 1922-1949 provides the first detailed analysis of the influence of former Party members and methods, and the place of its leaders in public memory. Taking the Party’s dramatic fall in 1918 as a starting point rather than a conclusion, this book adopts a new approach. It explores how former Irish Party followers reacted to the changed circumstances of independent Ireland and presents the first statistical
analysis of the Irish Party heritage of each political party since 1922. The book also asks how the Party was remembered in a state founded on the sacrifice of the Easter Rising. This detailed study therefore situates the home rule legacy within the politics of independent Ireland and sheds new light on the way individuals...

This detailed study therefore situates the home rule legacy within the politics of independent Ireland and sheds new light on the way individuals such as Charles Stewart Parnell, John Redmond and Michael
Davitt were remembered.
In this lecture, Martin O’Donoghue explores the attitudes of former Irish Party politicians to the Irish Free State, assessing how they accommodated themselves to the new state, the political
ideas they expressed, and how they analysed the relationship with Britain and the nature of Irish sovereignty.
