Career
Noise Addict
Lee's musical career began in 1993 with the band Noise Addict, who were signed to Steve Pavlovic's independent label Fellaheen Records, on the strength of a self-produced and distributed four-track demo recorded in Lee's bedroom. Pavlovic's connections brought the band to the attention of Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Beastie Boys' Mike D, both of whom released the band's material in the US. The group put out several releases on the Beasties' Grand Royal Records. These including the acoustic Young and Jaded EP in 1994, which contained Lee's Evan Dando tribute, "I Wish I Was Him." In 1995, Grand Royal released the band's only full length, the Brad Wood produced Meet the Real You. Noise Addict made a music video for the song "16", toured with Sebadoh, but then broke up. Lee was also briefly a member of the alternative act Gerling. In 2009 Lee recorded a new Noise Addict album, It was Never about the Audience, with a new lineup; Lou Barlow and Lara Meyerratken.

Dirty Mind is the third studio album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on October 8, 1980 by Warner Bros. Records. The album is the follow-up to his commercially successful second album Prince (1979). It was produced, arranged and composed primarily by Prince in his home studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The album debuted at number 63 on the US Billboard 200 chart (peaking at number 45), and earned widespread acclaim from music critics. On June 6, 1984, it was certified gold in shipments by the Recording Industry Association of America.Pitchfork Media ranked Dirty Mind number 87 on its list of the Top 100 Albums of the 1980s. In 2003, the album was ranked number 206 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.Slant Magazine listed the album at #53 on its list of the "Best Albums of the 1980s".
Composition
Dirty Mind was recorded primarily in Prince's home studio throughout 1980, with several of the songs being cut within one night and thus having a sparse, demo-like quality. The opening title track was released as a single, and described as "robotic funk". "When You Were Mine", notably covered by Cyndi Lauper, is "pure new wave pop" about a woman who has left Prince and his realization of his love for her only afterwards. Both "Do It All Night" and "Head" (the latter sexually explicit and detailing a chance meeting with a bride-to-be) are "sultry funk", while "Gotta Broken Heart Again" is the only ballad on the record and is described as "soulful crooning". The song "Sister", only 90 seconds long, is rock-influenced and has incestual tones. "Uptown" and "Partyup" are "relentless dance jams"; "Uptown" was released as a Top 5 Dance and R&B hit single in late-1980 and "Partyup" was performed live on Saturday Night Live in 1981. The two songs have anti-judgment and anti-war messages.
"Dirty Mind" is a single by The Pipettes. The first widely available release by the band, "Dirty Mind" was supported by a headline UK mini tour. It is available on CD, 7" vinyl and digital download it was released on 14 November 2005. It prompted the band to make their first music video and garnered airplay on many alternative radio shows including a playlist spot on 6Music. The CD b-sides were all session tracks recorded live for XFM's John Kennedy earlier the same year.

"Dirty Mind" was the follow-up single in the U.S., and title track to Prince's third album, released in 1980. The song is built around a keyboard riff created by Doctor Fink, which dominates the song. The demo-like song lacks a chorus, and is a stark departure of the smooth R&B sound of Prince's first two albums. The lyrics concern sexual thoughts, which are fairly representative of the other songs from the album. The single's B-side is the ballad "When We're Dancing Close and Slow", from the previous year's Prince. "Dirty Mind" reached number sixty-five on the soul chart. Along with the tracks "Uptown" and "Head", "Dirty Mind" reached number five on the dance charts.

I could never leave you waiting I've never been so close There's nothing that we'd need to save here So just let it go And take me over, and leave me broken 'Cause this is music for the young and foolish Spilling everything in the dark now You can have it all We can build it up to the stars Just to watch it fall So take me over, and leave me broken 'Cause this is music for the young and foolish Don't wanna live under water, I don't wanna drown in the sun Just wanna cry on your shoulder until the tidal wave comes Don't wanna live under water, don't wanna drown in the sun Just wanna cry on your shoulder until the tidal wave comes Seeking for a secret craving. Headlights on a sign I might have to walk away from you, babe, to make you mine So take me over, and leave me broken 'Cause this is music for the young and foolish So take me over, and leave me broken
