Deheubarth (lit. "Right-hand Part", thus "the South") was a regional name for the realms of south Wales, particularly as opposed to Gwynedd (Latin: Norwallia). It is now used as a shorthand for the various realms united under the House of Dinefwr, but that Deheubarth itself was not considered a proper kingdom on the model of Gwynedd, Powys, or Dyfed is shown by the fact it was rendered in Latin as dextralis pars or as Britonnes dexterales ("the Southern Britons") and not as a named land. In fact, in the oldest British writers, "Deheubarth" was used for all of modern Wales to distinguish it from Y Gogledd or Hen Ogledd, the northern lands whence Cunedda and the Cymry originated.
History
Deheubarth was united around 920 by Hywel Dda out of the territories of Seisyllwg and Dyfed, which had come into his possession. Later on, the Kingdom of Brycheiniog was also added. Caerleon was previously the principal court of the area, but Hywel's dynasty fortified and built up a new base at Dinefwr, giving them their name.

Dinefwr Castle’s history is shrouded in mystery, the exact origins of the castle are unknown but it is believed to date back to at least the 12th century and was built by Rhys ap Gruffydd, ruler of the kingdom of Deheubarth in Wales. The castle is situated upon a high wooded ridge offering stunning views of the Tywi Valley below.

The Rise and Fall of Deheubarth: A Welsh Kingdom of legendary history and stories. One of the the most important nations in Welsh history.

The debut from this Welsh act.
It features an entrancing mix of lofi black with the trademark shrieks and pounding drums mixed with doom, quite present on the slow passages where the vocals become more guttural and the bass floods all the remaining instruments.
It is a stellar mix of both worlds and above all an incredible vocal display.

Did a woman write the Mabinogi? with Dr Gwilym Morus-Baird
Who wrote the Four Branches of the Mabinogi? That's a question that numerous Celtic scholars have attempted to answer over the years, but none have been able to provide definitive proof to support their claims. This lack of evidence has prompted others to venture beyond the usual suspects of monks and clerics and instead consider more uncommon candidates such as Gwenllian, warrior princess of Wales . . .
