Daniel John Sullivan III, better known as Danny Sullivan (born March 9, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky) is a former American racing driver. He earned 17 wins in the CART IndyCar World Series, including the 1985 Indianapolis 500. He was series champion in 1988, third in 1986, fourth in 1984 and 1985, sixth in 1990 and seventh in 1989 and 1992.
Sullivan was given a 21st birthday present of a course at the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School at the Snetterton circuit in England. He competed in Formula Ford, Formula ThreeFormula Two and before returning to race in the United States. In 1982, he made his début in the PPG Indycar series, and was recruited by the TyrrellFormula One team for the 1983 season at the request of primary sponsor Benetton, who wanted an American driver. Sullivan competed in the fifteen races of the 1983 season, scoring two points with a fifth place at the Monaco Grand Prix and finishing seventeenth in the World Drivers' Championship. He also performed strongly in the non-championship Race of Champions held at the Brands Hatch circuit in April, finishing second behind reigning champion Keke Rosberg. Nevertheless, he was somewhat overshadowed by his more experienced team-mate, Michele Alboreto, and was not retained at the end of the season.
Daniel Michael C "Danny" Sullivan (born 1 September 1994) is an English footballer who plays for Truro City as a forward. After rising through Torquay United's youth system, Sullivan made his senior debut in August 2013.
Career
Youth team
Sullivan attended Ivybridge Community College and played in the same Plymouth Schools side as future Plymouth Argyle professionals Tyler Harvey and Matt Lecointe in 2009. He joined Argyle as a schoolboy but was released and signed for Torquay United on a two-year scholarship in July 2011. Sullivan made his debut for the youth team in August 2011 against Oxford United; the Herald Express claimed his performance "may well have caught the eye" of visiting scouts from Manchester United and Fulham. By November 2011, he was combining youth team duties with playing for Torquay's reserves.
He began the 2012–13 season in fine form after being converted from attacking midfield to lone striker by the club's Head of Youth Geoff Harrop, and he scored a hat-trick in United youth's first game, a 4–3 loss to Swindon Town.
Danny Sullivan is the Chief Content Officer at Third Door Media, and co-founder of Search Engine Land, an industry publication that covers news and information about search engines, and search marketing, SEO and SEM topics. Third Door Media also produces Marketing Land, a sister website that covers broader digital marketing topics including Social Media, Display Advertising, Email Marketing, Analytics, Mobile, and Marketing Technology. Search Engine Land and Marketing Land are owned by Third Door Media, of which Danny Sullivan is partner and chief content officer.
Danny Sullivan is an Australian former rugby league player. His position of preference was in the Second Row.
Early years
Sullivan grew up in Sydney where he attended Westfields Sports High School. In 1999 he toured France, Ireland and England ith the Australian schoolboys team. The team was undefeated and Sullivan played alongside Braith Anasta, Mark Gasnier, Brent Tate and Jamie Lyon. As an Australian representative, Sullivan was inducted into the Westfields Sports Hall of Fame and also won a New South Wales Sporting Blue.
Parramatta Eels
Sullivan was a junior at the Parramatta Eels while at Westfields Sports and he made his National Rugby League debut for the club in 2001. He played five games that season, coming off the bench. This was enough to earn the Eric Grothe rookie of the year award as the club's best youngster in 2001.
He had an impressive off season with the club in 2002, and was even talked about as a possible NRL Rookie of the Year award winner for the 2002 season. However he suffered a severe knee injury and required a knee ACL reconstruction. This was later compounded when he developed a Golden staph infection which injury ruined his next two seasons and haunted him for the rest of his career.
Danny Sullivan was signed to Harchester United in 2000. He progressed through the squad and made his debut on 26 December 2000. His debut was marred by a fight in which Danny had his jaw broken by a punch from Charlton player and future Harchester United team-mate Eugene Rose. He came back in to the squad at the start of the next season. He played this year under the name Danny Husbands due to this being his recently deceased mother's maiden name. Danny scored some important goals in his time with the Dragons, including a header in a match against Manchester United in the final game of the 2003/04 season. This goal helped Harchester to Champions League football. Danny then lost all bar two of his team-mates in the dreadful coach explosion after the 2004/05 playoff final victory. Sullivan was made captain under Felix Hahn and was captain as Harchester reached the Carling Cup final, in which Danny scored an own goal to win Chelsea the cup, and also won the FA Cup. Danny was forced to retire due to injury in the 2006/07 injury after an incident in a game while on loan at Southend United. Danny then had a mental breakdown. He was put in jail for five years after it was discovered that he had caused the 'Lair Stadium Fire' under the guise of Dragonslayer, he still failed to prevent Harchester's title win. In a gesture of goodwill Danny was presented with a medal for the title win by Harchester manager Jimmy Craig on his release from Harchester Prison in late June 2013. Danny has now been accepted back in to the Harchester set up and runs the Harchester youth team squad. His son Jack is now 10 years old and a member of the Youth Team squad that Danny manages.
'Spin and Win' Danny Sullivan Wins 1985 Indianapolis 500
Danny Sullivan led the last 61 laps of the 1985 Indianapolis 500 en route to his only victory in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
But Sullivan will be forever remembered for one lap, one moment, in which he took the lead for just a brief second before losing it.
Sullivan stalked leader Mario Andretti just past the halfway point of the race, trying to find the speed and the proper line to seize the top spot for the second time that day. Sullivan’s No. 5 Miller American March/Cosworth pulled to the inside and even with Andretti’s No. 3 Beatrice Foods Lola/Cosworth as the two cars crossed the Yard of Bricks to start Lap 120.

The huge crowd roared in anticipation as two of the biggest stars of the day roared into Turn 1, with Sullivan dipping under the white line on the apron while Andretti hugged the racing groove.
Sullivan cleared Andretti’s car and popped above the white line and into the racing groove exiting Turn 1.
Then one of the most memorable moments in Indianapolis 500 history unfolded in a split-second. Sullivan’s Team Penske car wiggled to the right in the short chute between Turns 1 and 2 and then did a complete 360-degree spin to the left, almost invisible in a huge cloud of tire smoke.

In 2017, Dan Tim became seriously ill but despite the huge odds, pulled through. As a result, he now supports the National Brain Appeal, raising huge sums for them.
It’s a hugely lively and entertaining programme, full of stories, music, dancing and some sheep!
