Sure, the first half of the book is some fun stories about dream interpretation and lions and furnaces, but then things take a turn for the apocalyptic!
Will the Dans survive this descent into madness? Will the Biblical book of Daniel survive Data Over Dogma? Who is Belteshazzar? Tune in to find out!

The hidden ethics of our personal data | Daniel Goddemeyer & Dominikus Baur | TEDxUCLouvain
Increasing access to our personal data raises profound questions around ownership, ethics and the resulting cultural changes in our everyday lives.
In the years to come, our own data will increasingly be analyzed and repurposed by more and more complex algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.
Our increasing reliance on these black-boxed algorithms starts to become problematic once they’re no longer tasked with only sorting our vacation photos or finding the next restaurant but become deeply embedded into the more consequential decisions of our everyday lives.
This talk is the first of a kind that transforms this theory into practice by making these systems not only visible but experiential in a live, interactive experience involving the audience.

"Tell your story and let your future action be guided by who are, dep down." Daniel Posmik Data are everywhere. As a storyteller, I have learned how to use it to inform, persuade, and empower. By telling stories with data, you can enable yourself and others to be changemakers – no matter who you are! Daniel Posmik is a third year Economics and Data Analytics student at the University of Cincinnati. He is the proud founder and president of Neo Consulting: UC’s youngest social justice initiative. His goal is to help historically marginalized small businesses in Cincinnati with pro-bono data analytics consulting. Why? Because he believes in making the power of data-driven decision-making available to those who were denied the privilege of education. Neo – the Latin word for new – is his organization’s contribution to reinventing a fairer Cincinnati economy! Daniel Goddemeyer is a researcher & designer who creates award-winning interactions with technology (specifically data) through products, services and interactive experiences.
He is currently the principal of the New York City based research and design studio Offc, that works with global brands, research institutions and start-ups to explore new product applications for their emerging technologies.
With his own research and his MFA class at the School of Visual Arts he explores how the hidden, ethical implications of these technologies will impact our future everyday lives.
For his work he has received several distinctions from the Red Dot award, Fast Company's 'World Changing Ideas' award, the German Design Price and the Industrial Designer Society of America.
Dr. Dominikus Baur works as a freelance data visualization developer. His award-winning projects make large datasets accessible, understandable, and usable. His work covers the whole spectrum from mobile apps, to websites, to large, touch-controlled installations – always focused on the people using them. As a computer scientist, he sees his work in the larger context of technological and societal developments and doesn't shy away from asking critical questions.
