Dana James Ewell (born January 28, 1971) is a convicted American murderer who was sentenced to three life sentences for ordering the killing of his mother, father and sister in 1992.
Murder case
Ewell's father, businessman and multimillionaire Dale Ewell, his mother, Glee and his older sister Tiffany were murdered on April 19, 1992 in their Sunnyside, California home, near Fresno. At the time of the murders, Dana Ewell lived in the family home. Although he had an alibi for his whereabouts at the time of the murders, authorities suspected his involvement when Ewell expressed anger at learning that he would not inherit his family's wealth until age 35. Investigators considered and dismissed a number of other possible suspects (including Dale's business associates) before focusing on Dana, who was suspected of arranging his parents' deaths to obtain the family's estimated $7 million fortune.
Police eventually determined that Ernest Jack Ponce, a friend of Ewell's college classmate Joel Radovcich, bought a 9mmassault rifle shortly before the murders and concealed evidence (making him an accessory in the case). In exchange for immunity from prosecution Ponce agreed to testify against Ewell and Radovcich, who attended Santa Clara University. Radovcich used a homemade silencer on the rifle, lying in wait for the Ewells in their home in California's Central Valley as they returned from a long weekend on the Pacific coast.
Ewell/ˈjuːᵊl/ is a suburban area in the borough of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey with a largely commercial village centre. Apart from this it has named neighbourhoods: West Ewell, Ewell Court, East Ewell, Ewell Grove, and Ewell Downs. One rural locality on the slopes of the North Downs is also a neighbourhood, North Looe. Remaining a large parish, Ewell occupies approximately the north-eastern half of the borough minus Stoneleigh.
The name Ewell derives from Old Englishæwell, which means river source or spring.
Bronze Age remains have been found in Ewell and the Romans are likely to have encountered an existing religious site when they first arrived leaving pottery, bones, and a few other remains, which have been taken to the British Museum. Ewell is on a long line of spring line settlements founded along the foot of hills on a geological line between the chalk of the North Downs to the south, and the clay of the London Basin to the north.

Ernest Jack Ponce (who procured the murder weapon) was also charged with the murders, but he obtained a dismissal in exchange for his testimony and was later licensed as an attorney.
At the time of the murders, Dana Ewell still lived at home in the family's comfortable Sunnyside-area home near Fresno. In his freshman year at San Joaquin Memorial High School, Ewell claimed his goal was to be a multi-millionaire by age 25, but at age 21, he was still being supported by his parents. The murders took place on Sunday, April 19, 1992.
Dana had been lying to his friends, claiming that he was personally financially successful. Dana claimed to be a stock-market wiz and he also claimed to own his own airplane transport company. Dana's father found out that his son had been going around lying and bragging. Dana's father told him that he was getting cut off financially that summer, when he was expected to graduate from Santa Clara University.
Dana was angry and this is what led him to plot the murders, although ironically it was ultimately revealed to Dana during the reading of his father's will that his father instructed that the family fortune be given to Dana but in installments. Ewell's furious reaction to not gaining his full inheritance and his lack of grief over the deaths of his parents and sister led to his uncles informing investigators about the possibility that Dana was behind the murders.
Fresno County Assistant District Attorneys James Oppliger and Jeffrey Hammerschmidt prosecuted Ewell and Radovcich in a jury trial that took more than eight months. Ewell and Radovcich are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole; their appeals have all been denied and exhausted. Ewell is housed in the Protective Housing Unit of California State Prison, Corcoran.

Getting stronger than I was before. The smoke is gone for shure, but flames still ruin the floor. The ability to love someone, I always thought was gone, had been there all along. I've been somewhat gone, but I can see clearly now. Don't you worry now; I'll get by somehow. I thought what we had was feeling right. How could I've known that you wanted to spend the nights with me. I can only get on with my life. I just realize time's killing me. I've been somewhat gone But I can see clearly now. Don't you worry now; I'll get by somehow The Crime. Now its all too clear if you were here. You'd still not see what that shit has done to me. The time I looked for the time to break your
