What Wines is Mexico Known For?
What Wine Do They Make in Mexico?
Text me for more info on Mexican wine and our VIP trips: (845) 800-0449
Nearly 2,500 hectares (6,200 acres) are planted to grapes in Mexico. Principal white wine grapes include Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, and reds include all five Bordeaux varietals plus Nebbiolo, Grenache, Tempranillo, Dolcetto, Syrah and petite Sirah.
This is the most varied wine region in the world actually. It is home to 140 different grape varietals. There are no government restrictions like Italy, France, and Spain when it comes to the grapes you can grow in specific regions. This allows the winemakers to be extremely creative. They are making blends here that you would never see anywhere else, including in California.

This is indeed the most interesting wine region in the world. You'll find winemakers from France, Germany, Chile, Argentina, the United States, and of course Mexico.
Because of the very small production, you may not be able to find Mexican wine consistently in the United States. If you find it definitely try it!

Fountains of Wayne perform "Mexican Wine" from the 2009 No Better Place: Live in Chicago concert. Buy the DVD here at: http://www.shoutfactory.com/?q=node/174981
For the band's first-ever DVD concert, fans are treated to a career-defining set with punchy performances of their hits including "Stacy's Mom," "Sink To The Bottom" and "Radiation Vibe." Having perfected the sounds of summer buzz with tight rhythms, carefree melodies and humor-laced lyrics, the indie pop quartet takes the stage in prime form, knocking out favorite after favorite.

Lyrics:
He was killed by a cellular phone explosion
They scattered his ashes across the ocean
The water was used to make baby lotion
The wheels of promotion were set into motion
But the sun still shines in the summer time
I'll be yours if you'll be mine
I tried to change, but I changed my mind
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican wine
She lived alone in a small apartment
Across the street from the health department
She left her pills in the glove compartment
That was the afternoon her heart went
And the sun still shines in the summer time
I'll be yours if you'll be mine
I tried to change, but I changed my mind
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican wine
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican wine
I used to fly for United Airlines
Then I got fired for reading High Times
My license expired in alomst no time
Now I'm retired and I think that's fine
Because the sun still shines in the summer time
I'll be yours if you'll be mine
I tried to change, but I changed my mind
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican wine
Think I'll have another glass of Mexican wine
Won't you have another glass of Mexican wine?

"The Mexico" an original song written by Christine Fitton and Roy Turner Copyright 1987
An original song about the wreck of 'The Mexico' 1886, written by Christine Fitton and Roy Turner (Fit'n-Elfie) in 1987, performed by Lytham lifeboatman Roy Turner on 4th March 2014 to commemorate 190 years of the RNLI. The Mexico Disaster was the greatest loss of life ever to befall the RNLI when 27 lifeboatmen lost their lives in a single night whilst attempting to rescue the crew of 12 from the barque 'The Mexico'. All St Annes and all but 2 of Southport lifeboatmen perished. The rescue was affected by the crew of the Lytham lifeboat, unaware that Southport and St Annes lifeboats had capsized with catastrophic results.

The Basques live in a portion of the Pyrenees in the far southwestern corner of France and across the ridge in the north-central portion of Spain, centered on the towns of Pamplona and Donostia. While some live outside this area today, many still call this region home. These hardy people have dwelt in the foothills of the jagged Pyrenees Mountains since prehistoric times, and they’re still there to this day.
The Basques manifest a genetic makeup that is prehistorically distinct from that of their neighbors in Spain or France. This has puzzled scientists and researchers for years.
