Liar's dice is a class of dice games for two or more players requiring the ability to deceive and detect an opponent's deception. The genre has its roots in South America, with games there being known as Dudo, Cachito, Perudo or Dadinho; other names include "pirate's dice," "deception dice" and "diception."
In "common hand" liar's dice games, each player has a set of dice, all players roll once, and the bids relate to the dice each player can see (their hand) plus all the concealed dice (the other players' hands). In "individual hand" games, there is one set of dice which is passed from player to player. The bids relate to the dice as they are in front of the bidder after selected dice have been re-rolled. The drinking game version is sometimes called Mexicali or Mexican in the United States; the latter term may be a corruption of Mäxchen ("Little Max"), the name by which a similar game, Mia, is known in Germany, while Liar's dice is known in Germany as Bluff. It is known by various names in Asia.
"Floating" is a 2004 single by the Irish band Jape, taken from the second studio album, The Monkeys in the Zoo Have More Fun Than Me and described as "Jape's trademark song". Co-produced by David Kitt, the single was the first release from the album and was generally viewed by critics as the standout track on the album. In 2007, it featured on the EP, Jape is Grape, for which a video was made. Brendan Benson of The Raconteurs is a known admirer of the song and has performed a cover version during live shows.
Reception
"Floating" was a popular single on late night alternative music radio shows in Ireland. The national broadcaster RTÉ described the song as "part drugs story and part love song" and noted its "quirky instrumentation and Gregorian chanting". It described the lyrics as having "a definite feel of amateur philosophy at 5am" but it said that that was "not necessarily a bad thing".
Cover versions
The song was famously overheard being played in Whelan's in Dublin by the musician Brendan Benson who immediately requested a copy of the album. A friend at the venue informed the band of this development following a show at The Bloom Festival during The Rose of Tralee festival in County Kerry. Benson then praised Jape in The Guardian (however, the newspaper spelt it "Jabe") and rang the song's writer to inform him he would be covering "Floating" with his band The Raconteurs. Benson did not actually receive permission to cover the track although it has been said that he would have been allowed to had he asked. Jape witnessed the cover live at the Olympia Theatre and was later to describe it as "a great moment". "Floating" is also covered by the Belgianbastard pop duo Soulwax during their DJ sets.
Floating is the first EP by Bill Callahan (also known as Smog), released on Drag City in 1991. "Red Apples" is an early version of the better known track of the same name from Red Apple Falls in 1997. "Floating" and "Hole in the Heart" later appeared on Smog's rarities compilation, Accumulation: None.
A garden is a planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation, and enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature. The garden can incorporate both natural and man-made materials. The most common form today is known as a residential garden, but the term garden has traditionally been a more general one. Zoos, which display wild animals in simulated natural habitats, were formerly called zoological gardens. Western gardens are almost universally based on plants, with garden often signifying a shortened form of botanical garden.
Some traditional types of eastern gardens, such as Zen gardens, use plants sparsely or not at all. Xeriscape gardens use local native plants that do not require irrigation or extensive use of other resources while still providing the benefits of a garden environment. Gardens may exhibit structural enhancements, sometimes called follies, including water features such as fountains, ponds (with or without fish), waterfalls or creeks, dry creek beds, statuary, arbors, trellises and more.

Mexican City Declares Emergency as Trump's Return Threatens Mass Deportations | Firstpost America
The Mexican city of Tijuana has declared an emergency due to US President-elect Donald Trump’s threat of mass deportations. Trump has vowed to deport millions of undocumented immigrants and end birthright citizenship in the next four years. The latest emergency measure will free up local funds for a possible influx of migrants arriving in Tijuana if the president-elect fulfils his campaign promise. The city's mayor says the funds will allow him to hire more personnel and pay for shelter and legal services. This will ensure dignified treatment of deported migrants in the city home to more than two million people. Earlier this month, Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum opened the possibility of...

WATCH: Rubio won't rule out military force against Mexican cartels | Trump confirmation hearings
Secretary of state nominee Sen. Marc Rubio on Wednesday refused to rule out the use of military force against Mexican cartels, saying it would be an option available to President-elect Donald Trump.
“That's an option the president has at his disposal,” Rubio said at his confirmation hearing held by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. “President Trump is someone that never publicly discusses his options and leaves himself the flexibility to act. I think there's a lot we can and will continue to do in close partnership with our allies in Mexico.”
Rubio, the senior senator from Florida, was also a one-time Republican presidential hopeful who ran against Trump. A former member of the Senate panel holding his confirmation hearing, Rubio also serves on the Select Committee on Intelligen...

Santiago Giménez nearly delivered a spectacular individual goal in the 27’, striking from the top of the box, but was just wide of the right post.
José Rodriguez attempted from outside the box in the 41’ but Mexican goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón dove to make the save.
Adalberto Carrasquilla converted a penalty kick attempt in the 45+2’ to put the nations on level terms.
Santiago Giménez struck from close range in the 54’ but was denied by Orlando Mosquera.
A handball from José Córdoba in the 90’ minute awarded a penalty kick to Mexico. Raúl Jiménez converted from the penalty spot in the 90+2’ to deliver the match-winner and his second brace in consecutive matches.
The victory marks the first Concacaf Nations League trophy for Mexico. It also marks a best-ever finish for Panama in the CNL, who won its first silver medal in the tournament.

The history of Mexico spans more than three millennia, beginning with the early settlement over 13,000 years ago. Central and southern Mexico, known as Mesoamerica, saw the rise of complex civilizations that developed glyphic writing systems, recording political histories and conquests. The Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire in the early 16th century established New Spain, bringing Spanish rule, Christianity, and European influences.
Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821, after a prolonged struggle marked by the Mexican War of Independence. The country faced numerous challenges in the 19th century, including regional conflicts, caudillo power struggles, the Mexican–American War, and foreign interventions like the French invasion. Efforts at modernization during La Reforma included promoting civil liberties and the separation of church and state, but the country was still beset by internal strife and external threats, including the Second Mexican Empire.
The late 19th-century Porfiriato era brought economic growth but also authoritarianism and social inequality, which eventually fuelled the Mexican Revolution in 1910. The revolution led to significant social and political changes, with the emergence of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) as the dominant force. Throughout the 20th century, Mexico implemented land reforms, nationalized key industries, and expanded social welfare, but these achievements were marred by corruption, violence, and economic crises.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Mexico shifted towards privatization and trade liberalization, culminating in the signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994. The turn of the century marked a significant shift in Mexico's political landscape, with the opposition National Action Party (PAN) winning the presidency in 2000, ending the PRI's long-standing dominance and ushering in a new era of Mexican politics. The 21st century has seen economic disparities, drug-related violence, and corruption. Administrations have focused on addressing these issues, with mixed success. The election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador in 2018 marked another significant shift, as his government has aimed to combat corruption, reduce inequality, and address the violence that has plagued the country for decades.

Earlier this month, Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum opened the possibility of hosting non-Mexican migrants deported by the United States. This was a u-turn from her previous stance, where she refused to receive migrants of other countries from the US.

A former member of the Senate panel holding his confirmation hearing, Rubio also serves on the Select Committee on Intelligence.
