Coke Studio Pakistan (season 5)

The fifth season of the Pakistani music television series Coke Studio commenced airing on 13 May 2012. The season consisted of five episodes, which aired on May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24 and July 8 respectively.

Rohail Hyatt and Umber Hyatt continued as producers of the show. Among the houseband, Louis 'Gumby' Pinto left the show due to him being the executive producer of the show Uth Records by Ufone. Jaffer Ali Zaidi also left the show and was replaced by Mubashir Admani. Raheel Manzar Paul and Zulfiq 'Shazee' Ahmed Khan also left the show. Farhad Humuyun was recruited as the new drummer for the fifth series.

The fifth season saw a return of Bilal Khan, Fareed Ayaz & Abu Muhammad, Atif Aslam and Meesha Shafi, all artists having performed previously on Coke Studio. The series also featured international rap musician Bohemia, rock bands Overload and SYMT from Lahore, legendary pop singer Hadiqa Kiani, Pushto pop singer Hamayoon Khan, progressive rock band Qayaas from Islamabad, singers Uzair Jaswal and Rachel Viccaji. Folk singers Tahir Mithu and Chakwal group are also featured artists. The song explores humanity "in a world of materialism and artificiality, with little understanding of the real truth." The best song was given to chakwal group.

Coke Studio India, officially titled Coke Studio @ MTV, is an Indian television series, Inspired by Coke Studio Pakistan, which features live studio-recorded music performances by various artists. Coke Studio combines myriad musical influences, from Hindustani, Carnatic and Indian folk, to contemporary hip hop, rock and pop music. It is one of the most popular music programmes in South Asia.

Season One premièred on 17 June 2011 on MTV India at 7 pm. Season 2 premièred on 7 July 2012 on MTV India at 7 pm and on Doordarshan (DD National) at 8:30 pm. Season 3 premièred 17 August 2013 on MTV India and Big FM at 8 pm simultaneously and at 9 pm on Doordarshan. Season 3 also premièred on All India Radio at 4 pm on 24 August 2013.
Season 4 premièred on 1 March 2015 at 8 pm.

Season 1

Each hour-long episode of the Coke Studio At MTV featured 6 songs and a diverse mix of music from alternative genres including Carnatic and Hindustani, compositions by new musicians, recreated Bollywood tracks, and a special song created on the show. Coke Studio is a Pakistani music television series which features live studio-recorded music performances by various artists. The show was produced by Rohail Hyatt up until Season 6, and is now produced by the Pakistani band Strings. It is sponsored by Coca Cola Pakistan. Starting in 2008, Coke Studio has been popular throughout the country, receiving critical acclaim and frequently being rebroadcast on numerous television and radio stations

The program focuses on a fusion of the diverse musical influences in Pakistan, including eastern classical, folk, qawwali, bhangra, Sufi and contemporary hip hop, rock and pop music. The show provides a platform for renowned as well as upcoming and less mainstream artists, of various genres, regions and languages, to collaborate musically in live studio recording sessions.

The first season of the show premiered on 8 June 2008. The third season aired on 6 June 2010 having the same format as that of the second season. Season Four aired on 22 May 2011. On 13 May 2012, the show commenced its fifth season. The sixth season started in October 2013. The seventh season of Coke Studio Pakistan aired on 21 September 2014 on various Pakistani channels.

Paristan (film)

Paristan (Land of Fairies) is a Bollywood fantasy film. It was released in 1944. The film was directed by Mahesh Kaul for Acharya Art productions. It starred Pahari Sanyal, Anjali Devi, Kamal Zamindar, Sunalini Devi, Moni Chatterjee and Padma Bannerjee. The music was composed by Ninu Majumdar and the lyrics were by Roopdas and Ninu Majumdar. This was Mahesh Kaul's second film after Angoori (1943).

Dominion of Pakistan

The Dominion of Pakistan (Bengali: পাকিস্তান অধিরাজ্য pakistan ôdhirajyô; Urdu: مملکتِ پاکستان‎ mumlikāt-ē pākistān), commonly called Pakistan, was an independent federal dominion in South Asia that was established in 1947 on the Partition of India into two sovereign countries (the other being the Dominion of India). The dominion, which included much of modern-day Pakistan and Bangladesh, was conceived under the two-nation theory as a home for the Muslims of the former British India. To begin with it did not include the princely states of Pakistan, which acceded slowly between 1947 and 1948. In 1956 it became the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; and in 1971 East Pakistan seceded from the union to become Bangladesh.

Partition of British India

Section 1 of the Indian Independence Act 1947 provided that from "the fifteenth day of August, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, two independent dominions shall be set up in India, to be known respectively as India and Pakistan." India was treated by the United Nations as the successor-state to the former British India. As it was already a member of the United Nations, India continued to hold its seat there and did not apply for a new membership. However, Pakistan was a newly created nation and needed to apply to join.
