Chinese foreign minister warns US of “conflict, confrontation” if path doesn’t change
China's foreign minister blamed the U.S. for rising tensions between Washington and Beijing on Tuesday, and warned the U.S. that there will be "conflict and confrontation" if the U.S. does not change its path.

"If the U.S. does not hit the brakes but continues to speed down the wrong path, no amount of guardrails can prevent derailing or a crash, and there will surely be conflict and confrontation,” Qin said.

China's foreign minister blamed the U.S. for rising tensions between Washington and Beijing on Tuesday, and warned the U.S. that there will be "conflict and confrontation" if the U.S. does not change its path.

Relations between the two superpowers have been tense for years over a number of issues including Taiwan, trade and Ukraine. But they worsened after a controversy involving a balloon, which the U.S. said was a Chinese spying device, was shot down last month.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Live Conference | China Vs Taiwan Live Updates
The Chinese Foreign Ministry holds a press briefing following the conclusion of large-scale military drills around Taiwan, which Beijing called a "major warning" to those supporting Taiwan independence. The exercises, involving joint operations of the army, navy, air force, and missile units, took place in response to Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te's National Day speech reiterating Taiwan's sovereignty. Taiwan condemned the drills as a "provocation" and vowed to defend its democratic system. A record 153 Chinese military aircraft were spotted near Taiwan in a 25-hour period during the exercises. The US labeled the drills "unwarranted" and urged China to act with restraint. As tensions escalate in the Taiwan Strait, the international community closely monitors the situation and its potential impact on regional stability.
