Accusations against Polanski
On 14 May 2010, Lewis and her Los Angeles-based attorneyGloria Allred accused Polanski of sexually assaulting the actress when she was 16 years old, before the two worked together on Pirates. Prosecutors in Los Angeles confirmed that they interviewed Lewis
in connection with the allegations. According to Lewis, the alleged incident occurred at Polanski's apartment in Paris. Previously, in a 1999 interview, Lewis stated that she had been his girlfriend for six months after the shooting of Pirates, and that she had been sexually active from age 14 on.
Dr. Charlotte Staples Lewis is a fictional character on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) television series Lost, played by Rebecca Mader. Charlotte is introduced in the second episode of season four and is a cultural anthropologist on a mission to the island where Oceanic Flight 815 crashed. On the island she is initially held hostage by one of the plane crash survivors, John Locke (Terry O'Quinn), but is freed when another person from her team switches place with her. She helps prevent poison gas from being released over the island, and develops a relationship with Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies). Charlotte dies in Daniel's arms after the frequent time traveling causes her headaches to worsen into something unexplainable.
Although conceived by the show's creators to be American, Charlotte's nationality was changed to British after the producers were impressed with English actress Rebecca Mader's audition. She was supposed to feature in just eight episodes of season four, but after the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike the role was expanded, which resulted in her starring in fifteen episodes over the fourth and fifth seasons. Charlotte's introduction, along with the three other new characters from the freighter introduced in season four, was well received, but her storylines in later episodes had a mixed reception, though Mader's acting was praised.
A lewis (sometimes called a lewisson) is one of a category of lifting devices used by stonemasons to lift large stones into place with a crane, chain block, or winch. It is inserted into a specially prepared hole, or seating, in the top of a stone, directly above its centre of mass. It works by applying principles of the lever and utilises the weight of the stone to act on the long lever-arms which in turn results in a very high reaction force and friction where the short lever-arms make contact with the stone inside the hole and thereby prevents slipping.
Etymology
The name lewis may come from the Latinlevo -avi, -atum meaning to levitate or lift, but the Oxford English Dictionary Online states, "the formation and the phonology are not easily explained on this hypothesis", preferring "origin obscure", and speculating that the term may derive from a personal name. The Romans used the lewis. The specially shaped hole that is shaped to fit the device is known as a lewis hole. Lewis holes in the uppermost masonry coursings are neatly repaired with matching indented plugs after the stone has been set in place.
Lewis is a crater on the far side of the Moon. It lies along the western edge of the Montes Cordillera mountains that surround the Mare Orientale impact basin. This crater has been heavily disrupted by the formation of the basin, and it is covered by ejecta from the impact leaving only an uneven depression in the surface. The outer rim is roughly circular, and the interior is uneven.

MUST SEE: In 2010, long before the MeToo movement, actress Charlotte Lewis came forward to describe her horrifying encounter with convicted child rapist Roman Polanski. She had no support, no sisterhood gathering around her, and in fact, she was ridiculed and smeared by the media and Polanski's then-friends and supporters. Here she shares her powerful story and asks where were all those TimesUp celebrity "heroes" (Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Ewan McGregor et al) to protect her back then? Charlotte deserves to be heard, to be believed, she deserves her MeToo moment as well. We commend her for her courage. PLEASE SHARE.

Affaire Polanski : "Je n'aurais jamais dû parler" regrette l'actrice Charlotte Lewis
