How Philip IV of Spain looked in Real Life. Felipe IV (or Philip IV) of Spain was Charles II's father. He married his niece Mariana of Austria to produce Spain's last Habsburg King- the inbred Charles II of Spain. Philip IV tried his whole life to get a male heir but none survived beyond him, except the youngest boy Charles II. However Charles II of Spain was so inbred, his health issues made him infertile and the Spanish Habsburgs in Spain ended. The War of the Spanish Succession arose afterwards, but that is another story.

He reigned as Duke of Parma and Piacenza from 29 December 1731 to 3 October 1735, as Charles VII of Naples and Sicily from 3 July 1735 to 10 August 1759, and as Charles III of Spain from 10 August 1759 to 14 December 1788. Due to his many enlightened reformations he became Spain's most popular king.
