In electrical power distribution, a busbar (also spelled bus bar, or sometimes as buss bar or bussbar, with the term bus being a contraction of the Latin omnibus, "for all") is a metallic strip or bar (typically copper, brass or aluminium) that conducts electricity within a switchboard, distribution board, substation, battery bank, or other electrical apparatus. Its main purpose is to conduct a substantial current of electricity, and not to function as a structural member. Busbars may or may not be enclosed in a bus duct. Also, busbars are important components in electrical power grid because they can reduce the power loss via reducing the corona effects. This is because busbars have bigger surface areas compared to wires.
The material composition and cross-sectional size of the busbar determine the maximum amount of current that can be safely carried. Busbars can have a cross-sectional area of as little as 10 square millimetres (0.016sqin), but electrical substations may use metal tubes 50 millimetres (2.0in) in diameter (20 square millimetres (0.031sqin)) or more as busbars. An aluminium smelter will have very large busbars used to carry tens of thousands of amperes to the electrochemical cells that produce aluminium from molten salts.

I'll be using this buss bar in a stack of batteries in a future video. The stack of batteries has a 400 Amp continuous rating. I need a buss bar that can handle that without getting hot.

This is a test I wanted to do for some time. Testing out different busbars and see how they perform, how the resistance is what the best choice for my battery is. Can they actually cope with 160A and how hot do they get?
I also promised Madi to test her busbars she sent over a while back, so...
On the testbench we have:
- the EVE standard tinned copper busbar coming with the cells
- Power Paul's aluminium busbar
- 2 of Madi's self made 'flexible' busbars
- a tinned copper flexible busbar from AliExpress

How To Build a DIY Busbar for a Camper Van Solar Install
This DIY Camper Van Busbar system is a great way to keep the main fuses nice and organized in a small space giving your camper van solar install a professional look and is ultimately less expensive than the other ways found to wire a camper van solar system in the past.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The fuses & fuse holders shown in this video are NO LONGER RECOMMENDED. Quality control on these have gone DRASTICALLY downhill over the last few months and many have had issues with these not being able to flow their rated current, heating up, and melting the fuse holders.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The fuses & fuse holders shown in this video are NO LONGER RECOMMENDED. Quality control on these have gone DRASTICALLY downhill over the last few months and many have had issues with these not being able to flow their rated current, heating up, and melting the fuse holders.

In electrical power distribution, a busbar (also spelled bus bar, or sometimes as buss bar or bussbar, with the term bus being a contraction of the Latin omnibus, "for all") is a metallic strip or bar (typically copper, brass or aluminium) that conducts electricity within a switchboard, distribution board, substation, battery bank, or other electrical apparatus. Its main purpose is to conduct a substantial current of electricity, and not to function as a structural member. Busbars may or may not be enclosed in a bus duct. Also, busbars are important components in electrical power grid because they can reduce the power loss via reducing the corona effects. This is because busbars have bigger surface areas compared to wires.
The material composition and cross-sectional size of the busbar determine the maximum amount of current that can be safely carried. Busbars can have a cross-sectional area of as little as 10 square millimetres (0.016sqin), but electrical substations may use metal tubes 50 millimetres (2.0in) in diameter (20 square millimetres (0.031sqin)) or more as busbars. An aluminium smelter will have very large busbars used to carry tens of thousands of amperes to the electrochemical cells that produce aluminium from molten salts.
