Brecon (Welsh:Aberhonddu), archaically known as Brecknock, is a market town and community in Powys, Mid Wales, with a population in 2001 of 7,901, increasing to 8,250 at the 2011 Census. Historically it was the county town of Brecknockshire; although its role as such was eclipsed with the formation of the County of Powys, it remains an important local centre. Brecon is the third largest town in Powys, after Newtown and Ystradgynlais. It lies north of the Brecon Beacons mountain range, but is just within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
History
Early history
The Welsh name, Aberhonddu, means "mouth of the Honddu". It is derived from the River Honddu, which meets the River Usk near the town centre, a short distance away from the River Tarell which enters the Usk a few hundred metres upstream.
After the Dark Ages the original Welsh name of the kingdom in whose territory Brecon stands was (in modern orthography) "Brycheiniog", which was later anglicised to Brecknock or Brecon, and probably derives from Brychan, the eponymous founder of the kingdom.
From its first election in 1542 until some time before 1715, the constituency consisted of a number of boroughs within the historic county of Brecknockshire or Breconshire in Wales. From then until 1885 the seat represented the parliamentary borough of Brecon alone. The constituency should not be confused with the county constituency of Breconshire, which existed from the sixteenth century until 1918.
On the basis of information from several volumes of the History of Parliament, it is apparent that the history of the borough representation from Wales and Monmouthshire is more complicated than that of the English boroughs.
The Laws in Wales Act 1535 (26 Hen. VIII, c. 26) provided for a single borough seat for each of 11 of the 12 Welsh counties and Monmouthshire. The legislation was ambiguous as to which communities were enfranchised. The county towns were awarded a seat, but this in some fashion represented all the ancient boroughs of the county as the others were required to contribute to the members wages. It was not clear if the burgesses of the contributing boroughs could take part in the election. The only election under the original scheme was for the 1542 Parliament. It seems that only burgesses from the county towns actually took part. An Act of 1544 (35 Hen. VIII, c. 11) confirmed that the contributing boroughs could send representatives to take part in the election at the county town. As far as can be told from surviving indentures of returns, the degree to which the out boroughs participated varied, but by the end of the sixteenth century all the seats had some participation from them at some elections at least.
This is a town where you'll enjoy losing yourself...not only in the narrow streets and passageways lined with Georgian and Jacobean shopfronts, wander down to the canal basin and take a trip on the canal, Brecon also has a cathedral the Cathedral started life in 1093 , built by the Normans on the site of an earlier Celtic church. At the dissolution of the monasteries in 1538 it became Brecon’s Parish Church. It became a Cathedral only in 1923

Brecon - Half Light (Video by Nick Cobby)
A lot of the tracks on this EP stem from ideas that have evolved over a long time, however ‘Half Light’ is fairly new and came together pretty quickly. It’s hard to pick a favourite from the EP but this track definitely does a good job of showing what we’re all about and has established itself as the EP’s lead track.
The building atmosphere in the background for the intro is made from layers of time stretched samples, pitched all over the place and then sent through one of the Micheal Norris plugins which gives a feeling of sunrise.
The track started with the drums and bass and we added layers and layers of percussion and snare elements at different pitches to almost create a melodic phrase.

There were loads of previous versions of the main melodic parts that didn’t quite work but after the skippy feel of the drums established themselves, the rolling and delayed broken-chord arpeggiated synth parts came fairly naturally.
