The last two major eruptions were in 1580 AD ± 20 years and about 1030 AD. They were among the largest Holocene eruptions in Papua New Guinea. Both were explosive eruptions with a Volcanic Explosivity Index of at least 5. The 1580 AD ± 20 years eruption produced pyroclastic flows and probably formed its caldera. The ignimbrite deposit from that eruption, which had a VEI of 6, extends 22 kilometres (14mi) from the caldera to the coast, and its volume is around 10 cubic kilometres (2.4cumi).
Mitchell served in France during World War I and, by the conflict's end, commanded all American air combat units in that country. After the war, he was appointed deputy director of the Air Service and began advocating increased investment in air power, believing that this would prove vital in future wars. He argued particularly for the ability of bombers to sink battleships and organized a series of bombing runs against stationary ships designed to test the idea.
He antagonized many people in the Army with his arguments and criticism and, in 1925, was returned from appointment as a brigadier general to his permanent rank of Colonel. Later that year, he was court-martialed for insubordination after accusing Army and Navy leaders of an "almost treasonable administration of the national defense" for investing in battleships instead of aircraft carriers. He resigned from the service shortly afterward.
Billy Mitchell (1939 – 20 July 2006) was a Northern Irish community activist and member of the Progressive Unionist Party. Mitchell was a leading member of the loyalistUlster Volunteer Force (UVF) and served a life sentence for his part in a double murder but later abandoned UVF membership and took up cross-community work.
Early years
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1940 into a poor family, Mitchell's father died when he was two years old. Although based in the Shankill Road during his adult life, Mitchell was raised just outside Belfast in what he described as "a wooden hut". The area, which at the time was the end of the city's tramline network, has subsequently been redeveloped as Glengormley.
Mitchell was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He and family moved to Detroit where he received early music education at Cass Tech. Known for his close association with another Detroiter, trumpet player Thad Jones and work with a variety of big bands including Woody Herman's when he replaced Gene Ammons. In 1949 Mitchell recorded with the Milt Buckner band, as well as making several recordings with Thad. From 1956 to 1957 he played with Dizzy Gillespie in his big band.
From 1957 until 1961 and from 1966 to 1967 Mitchell played with Count Basie. In the early 1960s he co-led a group with Al Grey, The Al Grey Billy Mitchell Sextet which won the Downbeat new band award in 1962, and introduced Vibes star Bobby Hutcherson.
Mitchell performed and recorded with the Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band, in Europe, in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and also served as musical director to Stevie Wonder for a short time during this period. He died in Rockville Centre, NY, in 2001.
William "Billy" Mitchell is a fictional character from the BBCsoap operaEastEnders, played by Perry Fenwick, who made his first appearance on 2 November 1998. Billy was introduced by producer Matthew Robinson as a guest character facilitating the introduction of Jamie Mitchell to the show. In the storyline, Billy is Jamie's abusive uncle and guardian, and Jamie is taken away from Billy by his relative Phil Mitchell. Billy was brought back to the serial on 2 August 1999 and Fenwick was offered a longer-term contract, Billy becoming a regular character. However, during his time on EastEnders, he has developed from a bully and fiend into a kind, devoted, caring and loyal father to his children and grandchildren. Frequently portrayed as a small-time criminal, Billy is a luckless character who often struggles financially. His most prominent storylines include two failed marriages and having a daughter born with Down's syndrome. Fenwick filmed his 1000th episode on 6 August 2010.
William James "Billy" Mitchell, Jr. (born July 17, 1965) is an American video-game player best known for recording high scores on classic games from the golden age of arcade video games. David Ramsey, writing for the Oxford American in 2006, called Mitchell "probably the greatest arcade-video-game player of all time." Mitchell's signature achievement is earning the first perfect score of 3,333,360 points on the original Pac-Man arcade game in July 1999. He owns the Rickey's World Famous Restaurant chain based in Hollywood, Florida and sells a line of hot sauces known as Rickey's World Famous Sauces.
Biography
Mitchell grew up in South Florida and began playing games at age 12. Already a dominant pinball player, he was at first uninterested in video games appearing in the early '80s until he noticed that "everyone was standing around the Donkey Kong machine and wanted attention".
Mitchell attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School in 1983 and soon began work as a manager in the kitchen of his parents' restaurant, "Rickey's World Famous Restaurant". Mitchell assumed ownership of the Rickey's chain in the mid-1980s, continuing to own and manage it as of 2009.

Billy Mitchell Soft Touch [1988][HQ]
Nice track from Billy's "In Focus" release. Conventional music industry wisdom has long dictated that a jazz musician must take sides-either you play straight-ahead be-bop, or you go fully contemporary and cater to the smooth jazz audience. Like the legends he most admires - from Miles to Herbie and Ramsey - pianist and producer Billy Mitchell loves playing both, and his refusal to limit himself creatively has earned him respect from both sides of the proverbial fence...N'Joy!!!
