Tamara Jaber (born 13 August 1982) is an Australian recording artist who rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of the pop group Scandal'us. Following the disbandment of Scandal'us in 2002, Jaber signed to her then-boyfriend Kyle Sandilands' record label King Kyle Records and released two solo singles "Ooh Ahh" and "Hard for Me". In 2007, she became a member of the pop duo ScarlettBelle, before resuming her solo career in 2011. Jaber released her debut extended play Felt, Not Heard through US independent label Cleopatra Records in November 2012.
Early life
Tamara Jaber was born in Paddington, New South Wales on 13 August 1982. Jaber's mother is of New Zealand origin and her father is Lebanese. She began singing and dancing at the age of three. At the age of eight, Jaber had begun formal tap, jazz and ballet lessons. She later auditioned for the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and was accepted in, studying dance and drama. At the age of fourteen, Jaber represented Australia in the America Song and Dance Championships and won first prize. She also won a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Music for years 11 and 12, completing a Diploma of Music, at the same time also completing her HSC.
Better Than Life is a science fictioncomedy novel by Grant Naylor, the collective name for Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, co-creators and writers of the Red Dwarf television series, on which the novel is based. The main plotline was developed and expanded from the Red Dwarf episode of the same name, as well as the Series 3 and 4 episodes: White Hole, Marooned, Polymorph, and Backwards.
The book is a sequel to Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers, and was the first Red Dwarf novel to receive its first print run in hardback edition. Like the first novel, Better Than Life became a best seller and was reproduced in paperback, omnibus and audiobook versions. Two further novels, Last Human and Backwards, were each created as alternate sequels by the writers, and followed in 1995 and 1996 respectively.
Plot
Following on from Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers, Lister, Rimmer and The Cat have discovered a cache of 'Better Than Life' headbands in one of the sleeping quarters. They fantasise that they board the Nova 5 and use its Duality Jump drive to return to Earth.
"Better Than Life" is the second episode from Red Dwarf series two, and the eighth in the series run. It was first broadcast on BBC2 on 13 September 1988. Written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, and directed by Ed Bye, this episode introduces the total immersion video game "Better Than Life", which features in both the first and secondRed Dwarf novels.
Plot
The post pod arrives 3 million years late, which, as Holly observes, is about average for second class mail. Among the usual bills and junk mail is the "Better Than Life" total immersion video game. Rimmer receives a large tax bill from Outland Revenue, along with a letter from his mother informing him that his father is dead. Although he knew his father (and in fact, everyone he knew on Earth) is already long dead, seeing the news in writing upsets him, mentioning that he looked up to the man. However, he stated that he loathed him, due to his strict requirements for his kids to get into the space corps to make up for his failure to get on the corps. (Rimmer wound up emancipating himself at age 14.)
"Better Than Life" was the third single released by Liverpooldance act Ultrabeat. It was written by Mike Di Scala and professional boxer Paul Smith. It was released in 2004 and reached #23 in the charts, which was much lower than the previous Ultrabeat single "Feelin' Fine".
The song was brought out on CD and vinyl formats and the remixes for this track were done by CJ Stone, Flip & Fill, Styles & Breeze, and Mike Di Scala's other alias, Rezonance Q.
Track listing
Music video
The video is set on a tropical island somewhere and features three young women and Ultrabeat. The three women are shown running down a beach and as they get close to the camera the video switches to Mike Di Scala who is singing. The video then shows Ultrabeat at a table eating and looking at photos of the girls. The video then goes in on a particular photograph and shows the girls on a beach and switches between the girls and Mike Di Scala singing.
Then the girls drive past Ultrabeat in a silver convertible. Ultrabeat get in a small 4x4 and follow them. The video shows the girls on the beach and Mike Di Scala singing for the last time before showing the girls walking into a bar, and dancing next to Ultrabeat.

Already a household name in her native Australia with gold singles and ARIAs under her belt, Tamara now sets her sights on the international stage with a breathtaking new look and an exciting new sound.
Australia was first introduced to Tamara in 2001 when she won Series two of hit TV series: Popstars and formed Scandal'us. The five piece group went on to record their album 'Startin' Something' which peaked at no. 2 on the ARIAnet Albums Chart and reached the no. 1 spot for single 'Me, Myself and I'. At the age of 21, Tamara and her band mates achieved a feat a lot of Australian artists dream about, taking home an ARIA award for Highest Selling Single. Undisputedly the biggest musical talent to come out of the Popstars into the music industry in Australia at such a young age and for developing herself into an artist.
Once the group split, Tamara took some time away from music to refocus on her direction, and after a few years, armed with a new determination, she created and led her new duo Scarlett Belle (along with new band-mate Reigan Derry) to the US where, after spending over a month in the studio with Snoop writing and recording, Scarlett Belle then found themselves working with accomplished producers, writers and artists such as NeYo, J R Rotem, Stargate, Dianne Warren, Dre & Vedal and Nate Dogg. Scarlett Belle then went on to be signed to Def Jam Records by L.A. Reid himself.
While Tamara loved the music she was making, she had a different song in her heart and found herself on a new songwriting journey that would lead her to a new chapter in her life and her craft: a sound filled with emotive storytelling and melodies based on personal experience closer to her truth. "My new music is a direct reflection of me. It's unapologetic, it's raw, and it's melodic and real. It's undeniable in its pop sensitivity however it's honesty is very relatable.
When Tamara is not writing or performing music, she is dancing and honing her acting talents. Tamara's display of dancing skills, self-deprecating manner and effervescent personality on "Dancing with the Stars' won over not only the Australian public but judges also, labeling her "the best dancer they have seen in the history of the show". Her natural presence and charismatic personality, both on and off the camera, have now paved the way further into the realms of television presenting, publishing, and producing with strengths the world has yet to see.
Whether on stage, in the recording studio, on the red carpet, Tamara's natural beauty, wit, and infectious personality sets her apart as one of Australia's most popular talents and most exciting new international exports.
