Brown is a member of the Republican Party, and faced the Democratic candidate, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, in the 2010 special election to succeed U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy for the remainder of the term ending January 3, 2013. While initially trailing Coakley in polling by a large margin, Brown saw a sudden late surge in the polls and posted a surprise win to become the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts since Edward Brooke in 1972. Brown attended the University of South Carolina Aiken, playing at Division II level collegiate golf. He turned professional in 2006, and begun playing mini-tours. He played on the NGA Hooters Tour from 2007 to 2009 and finished on top of the eGolf Professional Tour money list in 2009, with three wins. In 2010 and 2011 he played on the Nationwide Tour, recording five top-three finishes in 2011 to finish eighth on the money list and earn a PGA Tour card for 2012. Brown missed his first six PGA Tour cuts before finished tied for fifth at the 2012 Puerto Rico Open.
Brown had two fifth-place finishes in 2012, but could only manage to place 148th on the PGA Tour money list, barely maintaining conditional status by $4,468. He started the 2013 season dividing his time between the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour. Brown regained his PGA Tour card through 2015 with a win at the 2013 Puerto Rico Open. He qualified for the 2013 Open Championship and as a Tour winner, the 2013 PGA Championship.

Brown has produced music on his own record labels (Evolution Records, Evolution Plus, Evolved, Evolution Gold, Poosh, Screwdriver and Twisted Vinyl), and under a range of monikers including Plus System,The Scotchman,Interstate, Bass-X (with his brother Stewart), and with his band Q-Tex, which was formed in 1991.
Scott Brown began trampolining, at the Central Coast youth Club in Gosford. It didn't take long before the head coach of Australia Nikolay Zhuravlev saw a spark of talent in this young boy and offered to train him. After several years of training at The Trampoline Sports Academy (TTSA) Scott gained the ranking of No.1 in Australia on 6 occasions (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008). Scott began competing at an international level in 1995, he went on to continue and compete in World Cups events. His first being in 2000.
The National Trampoline Program moved to South Australia in 2005, because of an offer for better funding and facilities with the South Australia Sports Institute(SASI). Scott moved to Adelaide to resume his training where he continued to excel, having best results in Synchronised with his partner Ben Wilden. After a successful career, Scott retired after his last competition at the World Cup Final, placing 2nd in the synchronised event.
