The role of the Auditor General of Canada is to aid accountability by conducting independent audits of federalgovernment operations. The Auditor General reports to the House of Commons, not to the government. These audits provide members of Parliament with objective information to help them examine the government's activities and hold it to account.
Office
Auditors General are appointed by the Governor General in Council (cabinet) on address of the House of Commons and Senate for a non-renewable term of ten years. An Auditor General may only be removed for cause by the Governor in Council with the approval of both the House of Commons and Senate.
On November 4, 2011, the Prime Minister appointed Michael Ferguson, former Auditor General of the province of New Brunswick, as Auditor General of Canada, effective November 28, 2011.

The Controller and Auditor-General (the Auditor-General) is an Officer of the Parliament of New Zealand responsible for auditing public bodies. The Controller and Auditor-General is Lyn Provost. The Deputy Controller and Auditor-General is Phillippa Smith. Their mandate and responsibilities are set out in the Public Audit Act 2001. They are appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the House of Representatives.
Role and functions
Public entities are accountable to Parliament and the public for their use of public resources and powers conferred by Parliament. The Auditor-General provides independent assurance that public entities are operating, and accounting for their performance, in keeping with Parliament's intentions. The Auditor-General is independent of executive government and Parliament in discharging the functions of the statutory office, but is answerable to Parliament for stewardship of the public resources entrusted to her.

As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost territories within British North America until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotiajoined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 removed the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British parliament.

This bishop then becomes Archbishop of his or her diocese and Metropolitan of the Province. The current Metropolitan of the Province of Canada is the Most Rev. Percy D.
