Freda Charcilia Payne (born September 19, 1942) is an American Soul/R&B singer and actress best known for her million selling 1970 hit single, "Band of Gold". She was also an actress in musicals and film, as well as the host of a TV talk show. Freda is the older sister of former member of The Supremes, Scherrie Payne.
"At This Moment" is a song that was first recorded by Billy Vera & The Beaters in 1981 during a string of performances at the Roxy in West Hollywood (January 15–17) and featured on their self-titled live album, Billy and the Beaters, released that year on the American subsidiary of Japan's Alfa Records.
When it was originally released as a single (Alfa 7005), as the follow-up to the album's first single, "I Can Take Care of Myself" (which had become the band's first Billboard Top 40 hit), "At this Moment" stalled on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #79 at the end of 1981.
Then, when the song was included on several episodes of the NBC sitcom Family Ties during the 1985-86 season as the love song associated with Alex P. Keaton (played by Michael J. Fox) and his girlfriend Ellen Reed (played by Tracy Pollan, whom Fox eventually married in real life), the exposure renewed interest in the song. Reissue label Rhino Records purchased the track from the band's original record label, Alfa (the American subsidiary of which was by then inactive), and re-released it in its original version as Rhino 74403. The tune then began a revived chart run, eventually hitting #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts in January 1987. The song also hit the Billboard R&B Chart and the Billboard Hot Country Chart. As the song was starting to take off it came to the attention of Ron Carpentier President of RCI Music Promotion who was hired on the promotion of the song to radio and soon after the song hit the Billboard Hot Country Chart. It quickly sold over a million copies in the United States, becoming one of the last Gold-certified singles in the 45 RPM format. The song crossed over to the R&B and Country formats, reaching #40 Country.
At This Moment is the debut album of American country music artist Neal McCoy, released in 1990 on Atlantic Records Nashville. "If I Built You a Fire", the title track (a cover of the Billy Vera hit from 1987) and "This Time I Hurt Her More Than She Loves Me" were all released as singles from this album. Although the Vera cover did not chart, the other two singles both entered the lower regions of the Hot Country Songs charts. "If I Built You a Fire" was a Top 20 country hit in Canada as well.
Track listing
"If I Built You a Fire" (Don Sampson, Monty Holmes) – 3:37
"Take My Heart" (Don Reynolds, Mickey Stripling) – 2:40
"Down on the River" (Kostas, Wayland Patton) – 4:21

Oh, you've got a way of coming on You've got a way that haunts me, yeah You keep me flying through my songs A mockingbird you taught me, yeah Some say that I'm lost in love Oo-oo-oo-oooh, you just leave me But I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Walking down the street here by my side Make me feel like a rich woman All the girls, they try to catch a ride You tease them by, and take my hand Some people say that I'm lost in love Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooh, you just leave me But I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Ah, ah, ahh! Ah, ah, ahh! Ah, ah, ah, ah, ahhh! I came home late and found you in my bed Crying in your pillow, yeah You say, "My love, I did something bad and I'm afraid of losing you" Yeah Some people say that I'm lost in love Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooh, you just leave me But I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Ah, ah, ahh! Ah, ah, ahh! Ah, ah, ah, ah, ahhh! [saxophone solo] Some say that I'm lost in love Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooh, you just leave me But I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Some people, some people say I'm lost in love But I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Some people say, yea, yea, yea I'm lost in love, lost in love, lost in love But I don't care, I don't care what the people say You're my dream, I can feel you Whoa-oh, ohhhhhhhh
