A Super Quick History of Niger
Regarding the pronunciation of Niger, in my understanding the traditional English pronunciation was and is ˈnaɪdʒər (Nigh-Jer). That’s just how we say it. It is, however, increasingly being pronounced niːˈʒɛər (Ni-Zhair) which is the French pronunciation. Since the latter has increased in popularity, the former is sometimes regarded as ‘wrong’, when it is nothing of the sort. It is simply the English rendering of the word, just as we say ‘Rome’ not ‘Roma’ and ‘Spain’ not España and ‘Munich’ not ‘München’.

Il s'agit d'un satellite de communication, d'un satellite de télédétection et d'un satellite radar destiné à la défense et à la sécurité, dont la fabrication en Russie est prévue pour durer quatre ans, selon le ministre nigérien. Russia Signs Satellite Deal With Mali, Niger & Burkina Faso | Firstpost Africa
Russia Signs Satellite Deal With Mali, Niger & Burkina Faso | Firstpost Africa
Russia has signed a strategic satellite deal with the junta-led nations of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. As part of the deal, Russia will deploy telecommunications and remote-sensing satellites above the three West African nations. The technology will boost border surveillance and national security in all three countries which are facing a worsening Islamist insurgency. This partnership is the latest sign of Russia’s expanding influence in the region. The military-led governments of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso have turned their backs on the United States and other Western allies. The juntas have instead forged closer ties with Russia. However, some analysts have raised doubts over Moscow's ability to combat ...

Well, unlike the neighboring Nigeria that was governed by the English, this country was a French colony until 1960, and its official language is French, not English. So, the short answer is that even though you would say Nigeria and that’s perfectly correct. Here you would have to adopt the French-sounding pronunciation of Niger. In French it would be said Niger. Niger. But it’s be fine in English or American to say Niger. Niger, but not NYE-JER. Rather. Niger.

However, some analysts have raised doubts over Moscow's ability to combat terrorism in West Africa as extremism continues despite its assistance to the armies. Will Russia's latest move keep its edge over Western rivals? Watch for more.

“Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.” (Acts 12:25–13:5 NIV11)

If ALL of the disciples were Black why was SIMEON called NIGER? Meaning THE BLACK #2 LD
In Acts 13:1 Simeon is referred to as Simeon the Niger pronounced NEE-ger according to strongs concordance 3526. In my quest for truth, I keep pondering upon this same question concerning Simeon who was called Simeon The NIGER. Niger is latin for The Black. It is also Latin for CHRISTIAN.
Acts 13: 1
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

A Man Called Niger (Acts 13:1)
Acts 13:1 ~ Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
A MAN NAMED NIGER
**There were prophets and teachers in the church of Antioch. This means that they had men in the church who were mature in the faith, who knew the word of God and had the skill to teach it to the people.
** One of these men was called Niger which means black or dark. This catches my eye because I am black.
** Most of the time, I do not think about being a black woman who has been chosen to teach the word of God. But sometimes being black and being a woman seems to matter a lot to some.

** Whatever…This I know is true…it doesn’t matter to God! He knows my heart and I have given it to Him. He is my Lord. He is my Savior!
** John 1:1-3 ~ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
** God made everything about me. He knows everything about me. God wants to use me to reach many and I want to be used this way, too!
{Dear Father, the devil will try many things to keep me running in place. I must set my face like a flint to make certain that this doesn’t happen. In this very day…in this very moment…fill me with the Holy Spirit so that my faith is a blazing flame! Let me say with boldness, again and again…Holy Spirit You are welcomed here! In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.}
