Samuel George "Sammy" Davis Jr. (December 8, 1925 – May 16, 1990) was an American entertainer. Primarily a dancer and singer, he was also an actor of stage and screen, musician, and impressionist, noted for his impersonations of actors, musicians and other celebrities. At the age of three Davis began his career in vaudeville with his father and Will Mastin as the Will Mastin Trio, which toured nationally. After military service Davis returned to the trio. Davis became an overnight sensation following a nightclub performance at Ciro's (in West Hollywood) after the 1951 Academy Awards. With the trio, he became a recording artist. In 1954, he lost his left eye in a car accident, and several years later, he converted to Judaism.
Davis's film career began as a child in 1933. In 1960, he appeared in the Rat Pack film, Ocean's 11. After a starring role on Broadway in 1956's Mr Wonderful, he returned to the stage in 1964's Golden Boy. In 1966 he had his own TV variety show, The Sammy Davis Jr. Show. Davis's career slowed in the late 1960s, but he had a hit record with "The Candy Man" in 1972 and became a star in Las Vegas, earning him the nickname "Mister Show Business".

Sydney Charles Houghton "Sammy" Davis (9 January 1887, London – 9 January 1981, Guildford) was a British racing motorist, journalist and clubman.
Davis was born in South Kensington, London on 9 January 1887, the son of Edwin and Georgina Davis, his father was a merchant and tea importer. He was educated at Westminster School and University College London. While at school, he met Malcolm Campbell, and the duo were involved in a "spectacular pile-up" with a borrowed penny-farthing bicycle. In 1906 Davis became an apprentice with the Daimler Company. Training as a draughtsman, he became involved with the design of various products, from the Daimler-Renard Road Train to Daimler's team of cars in the 1907 Kaiserpreis race. In 1910, he joined the staff of Automobile Engineer, just then being launched by Iliffe (also publishers of The Autocar) as a technical illustrator and was by 1912 also a writer and sub-editor. At the start of the First World War he joined the Royal Naval Air Service and served in France with armoured car section. Following his demobilisation he became sports editor of The Autocar although he also served in the Second World War in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Sammy James Davis, Jr. (born April 8, 1980) is a former American football cornerback. He is a businessman and owner of the Austin Capitals, an American Basketball Association franchise. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers 30th overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas A&M. Davis also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After a collegiate career at Texas A&M, Davis played for the San Diego Chargers for three seasons. He then spent single seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Davis started 16 games in his rookie season, but he never started more than ten games in a season between 2004 and 2007.
During his NFL career, Davis was involved in the development of a system that allowed football players to drink water while on the playing field.

In TV and radio:
All That Jazz is the title of the debut album by the British pop group Breathe, released in April 1988. The album peaked at #22 on the UK Albums Chart and at #34 on the US albums chart. It has been certified Silver in the UK by the BPI and Gold in the US by the RIAA.
The group's first single, "Don't Tell Me Lies", was released in 1986 and reached #77 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1987, the group began working on the rest of the tracks to be included on All That Jazz. Their biggest hit single was "Hands to Heaven", which reached #4 in the UK and #2 on the US pop chart. Other singles released from the album include "How Can I Fall?" (#3 US pop and #1 US adult contemporary), a re-release of "Don't Tell Me Lies", "Jonah" (UK only) and "All This I Should Have Known" (US only).
"All That Jazz" (alternatively "And All That Jazz") is a song from the 1975 musical Chicago. It has music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, and is the opening song of the musical. The title of the 1979 film, starring Roy Scheider as a character strongly resembling choreographer/stage and film director Bob Fosse, is derived from the song.
Bursting With Song explained the song's context within the 2002 film: "We see Velma Kelly stomp into that very same nightclub, where she performs "All That Jazz" as a solo headliner; we know she's killed her sister and boyfriend, and so do the cops, who arrest her after the number ends".
Opus, Book 3 by Rob Blythe notes the song uses the 7th chord to create a unique musical effect.
Popular Culture: Introductory Perspectives explains the song encapulated the "importance of jazz in the constitution of pop culture". Describes it as a "cynical comment on the willing of humans...to act solely, simply, and unremorsefully in thr own interest", and deeming this unlawful conduct as part of "all that jazz" one needs to get by. BlueCoupe said in the song, "the ghost of Bob Fosse hangs about".
