Alberta Provincial Highway No. 53 is an east–west highway of approximately 223km (139mi) in central Alberta, Canada.
From the west, Highway 53 starts at Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) and ends at Highway 36 (Veterans Memorial Highway), passing through the communities of Rimbey, Ponoka, Bashaw, Donalda, and Forestburg. It crosses the Medicine River and Blindman River west of Rimbey, and crosses the Battle River three times between Rimbey and Forestburg (west of Ponoka, within Ponoka, and between Donalda and Forestburg). Highway 53 also provides access to Big Knife Provincial Park southwest of Forestburg.
From west to east, it intersects the following highways: 22, 761, 766, 20A, 20, 771, 792, 795, 2, 2A, 815, 821, 822, 21, 605, 56, 850, 854, 855, 856, 861, and 36. At its intersection with Highway 36, Highway 53 continues eastward as Highway 608.
From its western terminus at the Alabama state line, SR53 travels east through Floyd County, co-signed with US411. After a brief concurrency with SR100 in Cave Spring, US411 and SR53 continue northeast to the community of Six Mile. There, the routes become co-signed with US27 and SR1, and all four travel north to Rome. In Rome, US411 departs to the east, and US27/SR1/SR53 travel north, joined by SR20. Just to the east of downtown, SR53 departs from the other routes and travels northeast, running parallel to the Oostanaula River and through Shannon into Gordon County. South of Calhoun, the route arcs to the east, intersecting US41 and I-75 before continuing east. After a brief second concurrency with US411 and SR61 in Fairmount, SR53 continues east into Pickens County. West of Jasper, the route becomes co-signed with SR5/SR515, and they travel southeast to SR108. SR53 departs SR5 and SR515 and continues east, now co-signed with SR108. SR108 ends in Tate at the same crossroads as SR53 Business, but SR53 continues east into Dawson County to Dawsonville.
Alberta (Minister of Education) v Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright)
Alberta (Minister of Education) v Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright), 2012 SCC 37, is a Supreme Court of Canada case that considered whether the photocopying of textbook excerpts by teachers, on their own initiative, to distribute to students as part of course materials is fair dealing pursuant to the provisions of the Copyright Act. The Supreme Court, in a 5/4 split, concluded that the Copyright Board made several errors in its analysis of the "fairness factors". Thus, it allowed the appeal and remitted the matter back to the Copyright Board for reconsideration.
Background and facts
Access Copyright represents authors and publishers of literary and artistic works. The entity administers the reproduction of such works by issuing licences and collecting and distributing royalties to affiliated copyright owners. When licensing or royalty agreements with users of the printed works cannot be reached, Access Copyright has the option to apply to the Copyright Board (the "Board") to certify a royalty in a form of a tariff.
Alberta is the name of more than one traditional blues song.
Lead Belly song
Lead Belly recorded a song "Alberta" in four versions. One of these was recorded in New York on January 23, 1935 (for ARC Records, which did not issue it), and a similar version was recorded in New York on June 15, 1940 (included on Leadbelly: Complete Recorded Works, vol. 1, 1 April 1939 to 15 June 1940). Another version, recorded in Wilton, Connecticut, on January 20, 1935, included the lyrics "Take me, Alberta, take me down in your rocking chair" and is included on Gwine Dig a Hole to Put the Devil In (Rounder Records, Library of Congress Recordings, vol. 2). Lead Belly's fourth recorded version survives on recording disc BC-122 of the Mary Elizabeth Barnicle–Tillman Cadle Collection at East Tennessee State University, recorded near the date of June 15, 1948, with which several related discs are labeled.
Wheeler 1944 song
Mary Wheeler, in her Steamboatin' Days: Folk Songs of the River Packet Era (Baton Rouge, La.: Louisiana State University Press, 1944), records a song she collected from Gabriel "Uncle Gabe" Hester, with the lyrics:
The genus Alberta was shown to be paraphyletic in a phylogenetic analysis of the tribe Alberteae. The type species Alberta magna is set apart from the MalagasyAlberta species that are now included in the genus Razafimandimbisonia.

Welcome to Alberta, Canada!
From boreal forests to vast prairies and high mountain peaks, Alberta is an incredible province to explore. This is Canada's fourth-most populous province and one of only two Canadian provinces that are land-locked. This is also our home province and it was very fun to be able to experience Alberta as part of the Road to 150 travel series.
We rode a gondola to the top of a mountain, walked on a glacier, hiked to various waterfalls, canoed a glacier-fed lake, had fun at the second-largest indoor waterpark in the world, hiked into a canyon, learned about dinosaurs, rode on a steam train, and learned about Canada's star music talent. We also went up into the iconic Calgary Tower, rode the world's largest indoor triple loop rollercoaster, and drove the world-famous Icefields Parkway. We packed a lot of adventures into our short visit and can't wait to explore the province deeper.

Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim was to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

In this video, we share some of the best things to do in Alberta, including Calgary, Drumheller, Edmonton, Banff, and Jasper!
