Akita, Japan - Full Tour (2019)
Akita (秋田市 Akita-shi, Japanese: [aꜜki̥ta]) is the capital city of Akita Prefecture, Japan, and has been designated a core city since 1 April 1997.
The city, which covers an area of 906.09 square kilometres (349.84 sq mi), had an estimated population of 314,662 in October 2016, giving a population density of 347 persons per km2.
The area of present-day Akita was part of ancient Dewa Province, and has been inhabited for thousands of years. The Jizōden ruins within the city limits are a major archaeological site with artifacts from the Japanese Paleolithic period through the Jōmon and Yayoi periods. During the Nara period, the Yamato court established Akita Castle in 733 AD to bring the local Emishi tribes under its control. The area was ruled by a succession of local samurai clans in the S...

Japan’s Most Faithful Dogs The Akita Inu
A breed native to Japan, the Akita Inu is a dog categorized as a large-size with a round face, triangular ears and a curly tail. Although these are big, tough animals, they have a gentle, affectionate nature and are known for their devoted loyalty. Treasured in the past as hunting dogs, they fell out of popularity in recent years, so in response, the birthplace of the Akita Inu, Odate City in Akita, began a program to breed and promote them, conducting a range of PR activities that include a petting space in the tourist office where visitors interact with the dogs. Recently, thanks to publicity from celebrity owners like figure skating champion Alina Zagitova, the Akita Inu has surged in popularity overseas too..

As for transportation, it takes 4 hours to get from Tokyo station to Akita station via the Akita Komachi Bullet Train.
It costs around ¥17,000($160 USD) however if you have the JR pass you just have to pay the small fee of the reserved seat on the Shinkansen(all seats are reserved).
Or if you are going up to Hokkaido or coming back down from Hokkaido, you can change at the Shin-Aomori station and take the local JR train down to Odate station.
Going back to Tokyo from Shin-Aomori station is also possible by taking the Hayabusa bullet train. (Around ¥17,000)
Even though Akita is in Japan, each prefecture is so unique in it's own way - I learned so much from this trip and could see a different side of Japan.. I hope to share this kind of Japan more and more with you through my channel :)
and lastly, a big big big thank you to my friends at Akita Inu Tourism for showing me around Akita!!!! Couldn't have done this video without you!

PLEASE READ :)
Hello all! I've just come back from the best 5 weeks of my life, studying in a small city called Akita in Japan for the summer semester (Japan's winter semester). I participated in the 'Intensive Japanese Language & Cultural Immersion Program: Advanced' at Akita International University, with the course running for about 6 weeks, but I was sadly only there for 5 short weeks as I was hospitalised the day before I was due to leave Australia. This was my first time in Japan, despite having studied Japanese in high school, college and just finished my Japanese Language major at uni. The program was through my degree at the ANU and was the perfect way to solidify and expand on the skills I learnt in the classroom.
Sorry the vlog is so fast paced and only scratches the surface of my trip - if I put everything in it literally would've gone on forever. We had classes every day, did a stack of homework, but also had a lot of fun. I didn't film during lectures, classes or while studying so the vlog focuses more on the activities I got up to in Japan instead, but I promise - we had to study a lot! 80% of our time in Japan was doing everyday things like going to class, studying, or just chilling in the cafeteria together. To be honest, these are the things I miss the most about Japan.
I also blogged a little bit about my time in Japan (deeper than surface level), so you can read about that here if you want to know more about my experience: http://www.xamyshix.wordpress.com
On top of that, I'm on the AIU website! Find out more about my experience studying in Akita here: http://web.aiu.ac.jp/en/voice/16688/
As you guys will see in the vlog, I got to travel around Japan during my weekends off in the intensive program. All the cities I visited were wonderful, but none of them have stolen my heart the way Akita has.
Akita, I miss you already.
Enjoy xxxx

Enjoy xxxx
