The Highlands (Scottish Gaelic:A' Ghàidhealtachd, "the place of the Gaels"; Scots:the Hielands) are a historic region of Scotland. The region became culturally distinguishable from the Lowlands from the later Middle Ages into the modern period, when Lowland Scots replaced Scottish Gaelic throughout most of the Lowlands. The term is also used for the area north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault, although the exact boundaries are not clearly defined, particularly to the east. The Great Glen divides the Grampian Mountains to the southeast from the Northwest Highlands. The Scottish Gaelic name of A' Ghàidhealtachd literally means "the place of the Gaels" and traditionally, from a Gaelic-speaking point of view, includes both the Western Isles and the Highlands.
The area is very sparsely populated, with many mountain ranges dominating the region, and includes the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis. Before the 19th century the Highlands was home to a much larger population, but due to a combination of factors including the outlawing of the traditional Highland way of life following the Jacobite Rising of 1745, the infamous Highland Clearances, and mass migration to urban areas during the Industrial Revolution, the area is now one of the most sparsely populated in Europe. At 9.1 per km2 in 2012, the population density in the Highlands and Islands is less than 1/7th of Scotland's as a whole, comparable with that of Bolivia, Chad and Russia.
Kill the Lights is the fifth studio album by American country music artist Luke Bryan. It was released on August 7, 2015, through Capitol Nashville. The album's lead single, "Kick the Dust Up", was released to radio on May 19, 2015. "Strip It Down" was released as the second single from the album on August 4, 2015. The album's third single, "Home Alone Tonight", was released to country radio on November 23, 2015.
Kill the Lights garnered positive reviews from music critics. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, moving 345,000 equivalent units in the week ending August 13.
Critical reception
Kill the Lights has received mostly positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a "weighted average" rating out of 100 from selected independent ratings and reviews from mainstream critics, the album received a Metascore of 69/100, based on nine reviews, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic rates the album four stars conveying: "Kill the Lights winds up feeling happy and generous, an inclusive record that plays to teenage desires as effectively as memories of an adolescence left behind. " The publication Billboard rates the album three and a half stars, and Jewly Hight commenting: "the fact that Kill the Lights features a pensive, black-and-white cover shot -- the rare photo in which he's not smiling even a little -- is a hint: He isn't simply going about his business-as-usual fun on this album."Brian Mansfield rates the album three stars out of four at USA Today proffering: "The hits are fine, but that's the guy who's really worth getting to know." Maura Johnston gives the album a positive review on behalf of The Boston Globe suggesting: "Bryan might have broken up with spring break, but crashing pop’s party will probably offer him just as good a time."
"Move" is a single by CSS, it is the third released from the album Donkey. It was released on October 13, 2008. It was remixed by Cut Copy and Frankmusik. The single failed to chart everywhere, except for Italy. It is featured in the forever 21 playlist. A remix of the song was used for a jazz routine on So You Think You Can Dance season 5, which was performed by Janette Manrana and Evan Kasprzak, and later season 8 for a solo by jazz dancer Missy Morelli.
Move is the eponymous debut album by The Move, released on the Regal Zonophone label. The only one which was recorded by the group’s initial line-up before bassist Ace Kefford left, it includes both sides of their third and fourth singles ('Flowers in the Rain' and 'Fire Brigade'). 'Flowers in the Rain' was the first ever song played on Radio 1 in September 1967 by Tony Blackburn
Content
The album consisted of Roy Wood originals, and three cover versions that had featured prominently in their live set. "Weekend" was an Eddie Cochran song, and "Hey Grandma" had originally been recorded by US psychedelic band Moby Grape. "Zing Went the Strings of My Heart" was an old James F. Hanley standard, with an arrangement copied from The Coasters.
"Cherry Blossom Clinic"/"Vote for Me" single
The last track, "Cherry Blossom Clinic", was intended as a single at the end of 1967, and an acetate, with "Vote for Me" (a song which remained unreleased until 1997), was pressed. Release was cancelled, as the lyrics were about the inmate of a mental home, and in the wake of the controversy which had dogged 'Flowers In The Rain', with its promotional postcard featuring an allegedly libellous drawing of Prime MinisterHarold Wilson, it was felt that potential further allegations of bad taste and scandal would harm their career irreparably.

SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS | 13 hour tour | SCOTLAND VLOG
I went on a 13 hour day trip tour of the Scottish Highlands and fell in love with the beautiful scenery of Scotland. In this vlog, a Scottish travel guide takes me on a trip across the Scotland Highlands. This is the first time I visit this side of Scotland.
I picked a 13 hour Scottish Highlands road trip tour with Timberbush Tours. This Scottish Highlands tour was from Edinburgh. In this Scottish highlands vlog we travel across Glencoe, Glenfinnan, the Glenfinnan Viaduct, and Mallaig. I have been to Scotland multiple times but I can confidently say that the Highlands are one of the best places to visit in Scotland. The incredible nature of the landscape makes the Highlands one of Scotland’s most scenic places. It is hard to show this in a travel video as nothing compares to seeing this m...

The Highland Clearances of Scotland (A Short Documentary)
The Highland Clearances of Scotland (A Short Documentary)
The Highlands of Scotland – known for their immense beauty, legends of old, and one of the last wild, sparsely populated places in Europe. The rugged terrain and wild weather may cause you to think that it has always been this way - but there was a time when these lands weren’t quite so empty.
In this short documentary, I'll take you to the abandoned village of Arichonan in Argyll and back into history to discover crofting communities and the highland clearances that dispersed them.
In the second half of the documentary, we'll touch upon the Scottish Gaelic Renaissance and the work being done to preserve the Gaelic language and culture.

4 Reasons NOT to Move to the Scottish Highlands in 2025
4 Reasons Not to Move to the Scottish Highlands
Thinking of moving to the Scottish Highlands? It's a place of breathtaking landscapes and rich history, but it's not for everyone. Before you pack your bags, consider these four reasons why the Highlands might not be your ideal home:
The Weather: Expect four seasons in one day! The Highlands are known for their unpredictable weather, with sudden rain showers, chilling winds, and even snow in unexpected months. If you're not a fan of constantly changing skies, this might be a deal-breaker.
Public Transport: While charming in its own right, the public transport system here isn't the most reliable. Buses and trains can be infrequent, and if you're living in a remote area, you might find yourself waiting for a ride longer than you'd like.

Isle of Skye & Glencoe Tour | Visiting Isle Of Skye and Scottish Highlands In Winters
Enjoy this non-verbal tour and views of the Scottish highlands during the winters. We visited many places during our recent trip to United Kingdom and Scotland was our absolute favourite.
Even though we had a lot of inhibitions about doing this road trip because of the lack of information available on travelling to Isle Of Skye in late November, we are glad that we did it.
Enjoy this video and let me know about any questions that you have.

8. Glencoe Valley
Glencoe Valley is located in the Scottish Highlands in western Scotland. The area is known for its impressive mountain scenery, beautiful waterfalls, and trails that climb steep peaks, such as the Pap of Glencoe.
7. Glen Nevis
Located right outside the town Fort William, Glen Nevis is one of the most spectacular and beautiful glens in the Highlands. Above all, it’s home to Britain’s highest mountain: Ben Nevis, which is an impressive day hike.
6. Glenfinnan Viaduct
Only a stone's throw away from Glen Nevis and Fort William, the Glenfinnan Viaduct is a must-visit in Scotland! Made famous in the Harry Potter films, this 21-arched viaduct is set amongst some of Scotland’s finest scenery!

5. Inverness
Inverness is the northernmost city in the United Kingdom and is regarded as the cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands. Similar to Edinburgh, the city has a fantastic pub scene with great live music in the evenings.
4. Loch Ness
Located only a short drive from Inverness, Loch Ness is one of the most famous places in all of Scotland. The legend of the monster called Nessie goes back to ancient times.
3. Eilean Donan Castle
The Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most photographed castles in the world for a good reason. It’s perfectly situated on a small island with a charming curved bridge connecting it to the mainland.
2. Old Man of Storr (Isle of Skye)
Skye is the second largest island in Scotland and in our opinion, it has the most picturesque views you’ll encounter on your trip. The Old Man of Storr is the most iconic sight on the island and attracts many hikers and tourists alike.
1. Quiraing (Isle of Skye)
Quiraing is located on the Northern end of the Isle of Skye and boasts some of the best natural views in all of Scotland. The jagged landscape was caused by a landslip, which exposed strange rock formations underneath a large cliff.

It is hard to show this in a travel video as nothing compares to seeing this magical side of Scotland first hand. Scotland definitely feels like one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Would you take a trip across the Scottish Highlands? If seeing Scotland is on your bucket list, I wholeheartedly recommend Timberbush Tours https://www.timberbush-tours.co.uk (I am not sponsored, I found them myself!) Special thanks to Andrew T for his incredible guided tour of the Scottish Highlands!

This video was made in collaboration with Pressenza International Press Agency: www.pressenza.com
Chapters:
0:00 Introduction to the Highlands
0:26 History of Crofting Culture
1:21 The Highland Clearances
3:05 Migration
4:09 The Scottish Gaelic Renaissance

State of the Roads: The scenic drives come at a cost. Many roads in the Highlands are narrow, winding, and can be poorly maintained. Potholes and single-track roads with passing places are common, which can be a challenge for those used to city driving.
Midges!: Ah, the infamous Highland midge. These tiny insects can be a huge nuisance during the warmer months. They swarm in vast numbers and their bites can be very irritating. If you're not prepared to deal with these little critters, you might want to reconsider.
Despite these challenges, many find the Scottish Highlands a wonderful place to live, with its stunning scenery, friendly communities, and tranquil lifestyle. It's all about weighing the pros and cons. What's your take?

Enjoy this non-verbal tour and views of the Scottish highlands during the winters. We visited many places during our recent trip to United Kingdom and Scotland was our absolute favourite.
Even though we had a lot of inhibitions about doing this road trip because of the lack of information available on travelling to Isle Of Skye in late November, we are glad that we did it.
Enjoy this video and let me know about any questions that you have.

Mysterious castles overlooking lonely lakes and men in kilts playing the bagpipes - Scotland's cliches are beloved and well known. What few people realise, however, is that Great Britain‘s northernmost region is home to fascinating wildlife and stunning natural landscapes.

Scotland is the most northerly part of the four areas that make up the United Kingdom. It’s known for rugged landscapes defined by mysterious lochs, magical mountains, and gothic castles. Scotland also has a strong culture featuring Celtic music, traditional kilts, and sophisticated whiskies. In this video, we show 10 of the best places to visit in Scotland.
10. Edinburgh
Edinburgh is located in the south-east and it’s Scotland’s most beautiful and interesting city. This is the place to take in the unique Scottish culture, with a vibrant pub scene and intriguing historic sites.
9. Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park
Situated approximately 60 miles or 96 kilometers to the west of Edinburgh, Loch Lomond & the Trassachs National Park is the oldest national park in Scotland.
☑️ Boat tour Loch Lomond: https://www.getyourguide.com/loch-lomond-scotland-l2593/loch-lomond-1-hour-cruise-t152913/?partner_id=57UJ5GF&utm_medium=online_publisher&placement=content-middle&cmp=Scotland_video

☑️ Jacobite Steam Train info: https://westcoastrailways.co.uk/jacobite/steam-train-trip

Even though we had a lot of inhibitions about doing this road trip because of the lack of information available on travelling to Isle Of Skye in late November, we are glad that we did it.
Enjoy this video and let me know about any questions that you have.

We finally crossed Scotland off our travel list and it was an amazing trip! We rented a car through Turo and took a day road trip from Edinburgh up to Inverness and then worked our way south from Inverness along Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle, then through the Highlands and Glencoe, and finallyback to Edinburgh.
