1975-76 NHL: Top 10 Scoring Leaders
1975-76 was the start of an era in the National Hockey League, when it came to scoring. It marked the end of the Phil Esposito / Bobby Orr days and bridged the gap until the Gretzky era started.
This was the start of a three year run at winning the Art Ross Trophy for Guy Lafleur of the Montreal Canadiens. Pulled along by Lafleur's success was Pete Mahovlich. The Little M finished tied for sixth with 105 points. For Pete, this followed a career high 117 points season in 1974-75. He would not get above 67 points for the rest of his NHL career.
The state of Pennsylvania accounted for 50% of the top 10. Bobby Clarke and Bill Barber represented the Philadelphia Flyers. The Pittsburgh Penguins put three men in the top 10: Syl Apps, Jean Pronovost and Pierre Larouche.

NHL California Golden Seals / 1975-76 Season
The California Golden Seals finally seemed like they were going to turn the corner. These clips document the improving Seals and their optimistic atmosphere during the team’s last season in California — and then their sudden & surprisingly move to Cleveland in the off-season. Dennis Maruk, Rick Hampton, Al MacAdam, Wayne Merrick, Gilles Meloche, Gary Simmons formed the nucleus of a team that was ready to grow to bigger and better things.

The NAHL is the league the Federal League in "Slap Shot" was based upon. In fact, the Syracuse team in the movie wears the Firebirds colors--ironically, the Firebirds moved to Syracuse before ultimately folding in 1980 as a member of the American Hockey League.
Notable Firebirds stars included Bob Collyer (42 goals, 60 assists, 102 points); Mike Boland (32-54-86); Michel Plante (28-35-63); and Dale MacLeish, brother of Flyers' star Rick (18-17-35). Other Flyers siblings included defenseman Ray Schultz. Future Flyer defenseman Norm Barnes was on the squad. Goalies were Dan Sullivan (19-15-1, 3.97) and long-time NHL goaler Rejean Lemelin (21-15-2, 3.37).
