Robert Marvin Hull, OC (born January 3, 1939) is a Canadian former ice hockey player who is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. His blonde hair, end to end rushes, his incredible speed on skates, and being able to shoot the puck at very high velocity, all earned him the nickname "The Golden Jet". His talents were such that often one or two opposing players were assigned just to shadow him—a tribute to his explosiveness.
"Every professional athlete owes a debt of gratitude to the fans and management, and pays an installment every time he plays. He should never miss a payment."
"Always keep your composure. You can't score from the penalty box; and to win, you have to score."
"My job is to suggest and ratify and use any expertise that I might have gained over the 23 years in professional hockey to make our game a better game."
"I thought it was a joke, I pretended to go along with it, just to scare Chicago. Then my agent said, 'Bobby, these guys are serious.'"
"If I told you that the big contract had nothing to do with my signing, I'd be lying. It made the future secure for my family."
"Somewhere in my wildest childhood I must have done something right. Being able to make a boyhood dream come true is one thing, but to have a kid come along and thrill his dad like Brett Hull has thrilled me over his career is too much for one guy to handle."
"They'll put themselves back 20 years, ... If they think they can successfully ice 30 teams in the markets they're in right now and have a viable product, it's just not going to happen. Remember baseball? Baseball is just getting back to where it was before the '94 strike - and that's the national past time down here. Nobody gives a crap about hockey down here - nobody. I coach kids' hockey down here and you can start to see the disinterest in the game here with the kids."
"I feel, first of all, very privileged that these people think enough of me that they made me commissioner. And it's almost like, as Yogi Berra said, 'deja vu all over again.'"
"First and foremost it's important that we're able to put something back in the game, which we have always done. We're doing this to help needy charities along with the police forces in different towns and cities."
"I hope I can do a better job than Mr. Bettman."
"Well, Brett was a pretty laid back kid and I think all the pressure was heaped upon my eldest boy, Bobby."
"Then to have Brett come along and follow in the footsteps, it's so gratifying. I get as much enjoyment out of watching Brett play as I did of entertaining people myself."
"You might say I was a little bit more outspoken... I spoke my mind."

Bobby Hull scores 3 in 1st period 1974
One last video tribute to Bobby Hull. Hull left Chicago in 1973 and his million dollar contract with Winnipeg of the new World Hockey Association was a record at that time - immediately changing sports/hockey contracts. Hull and Gordie Howe became the main attractions of the new WHA. In 1974 the WHA took on the legendary Russian hockey team. This is the first period of game four where Bobby Hull scores three goals in 10 minutes. I’ve included all Team Canada goals that period - 3 by Hull, 1 each for Gordie Howe & Frank
Mahovlich. Btw… Hull lead ALL scorers in this 8 game series with 7 goals & 2 assists for 9 points.

Nicholas: She never really had a chance On that fateful moonlit night Sacrificed without a fight A victim of her circumstance Now that Ive become aware And Ive exposed this tragedy A sadness grows inside of me It all seems so unfair Im learning all about my life By looking through her eyes Just beyond the churchyard gates Where the grass is overgrown I saw the writing on her stone I felt like I would suffocate Inloving memory of our child So innocent, eyes open wide I felt so empty as I cried Like part of me had died Im learning all about my life By looking through her eyes And as her image Wandered through my head I wept just like a baby As I lay awake in bed And I know what its like To lose someone you love And this felt just the same She wasnt given any choice Desperation stole her voice Ive been given so much more in life Ive got a son, Ive got a wife I had to suffer one last time To grieve for her and say goodbye Relive the anguish of my past To find out who I was at last The door has opened wide Im turning with the tide
