Camel is a brand of cigarettes that was introduced by American company R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in 1913. Most current Camel cigarettes contain a blend of Turkish tobacco and Virginia tobacco. Early in 2008 the blend was changed as was the package design.
History
In 1913, R.J. Reynolds developed an innovation: the packaged cigarette.
Most tobacco users who smoked cigarettes preferred to roll their own, and there was thought to be no national market for pre-packaged cigarettes. Reynolds worked to develop a flavor he thought would be more appealing than past products, creating the Camel cigarette, so named because it used Turkish paper, in imitation of then-fashionable Egyptian cigarettes. Reynolds undercut competitors on the cost of the cigarettes, and within a year, he had sold 425 million packs of Camels.
Camel cigarettes were originally blended to have a milder taste in contrast to brands that, at the time of its introduction, were considered much harsher. They were advance promoted, prior to official release, by a careful advertising campaign that included "teasers" which merely stated that "the Camels are coming" (a play on the old Scottish folk song, "The Campbells Are Coming"). This marketing style was a prototype for attempts to sway public opinion that coincided with the United States' entry into World War I, and later World War II. Another promotion strategy was the use of a Circus camel, 'Old Joe', which was driven through town and used to distribute free cigarettes. The brand's catch-phrase slogan, used for decades, was "I'd walk a mile for a Camel!"
A hawker is a vendor of merchandise that can be easily transported; the term is roughly synonymous with peddler or costermonger. In most places where the term is used, a hawker sells inexpensive items, handicrafts or food items. Whether stationary or mobile, hawkers often advertise by loud street cries or chants, and conduct banter with customers, so to attract attention and enhance sales.
When accompanied by a demonstration and/or detailed explanation of the product, the hawker is sometimes referred to as a demonstrator or pitchman.
Regional
Asia
India
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, there are 10 million street vendors in India, with Mumbai accounting for 250,000, Delhi has 200,000, Kolkata, more than 150,000, and Ahmedabad, 100,000. Most of them are immigrants or laid-off workers, work for an average 10–12 hours a day, and remain impoverished. Though the prevalent license-permit raj in Indian bureaucracy ended for most retailing in the 1990s, it continues in this trade. Inappropriate license ceiling in most cities, like Mumbai which has a ceiling 14,000 licenses, means more vendors hawk their goods illegally, which also makes them prone to the bribery and extortion culture under local police and municipal authories, besides harassment, heavy fines and sudden evictions. In Kolkata, the profession was a cognisable and non-bailable offense.
The Scorpion ran three issues, cover-dated February to July 1975. The premiere was written and drawn by character creator Howard Chaykin. On the second issue, Chaykin's pencil art was inked by the team of Bernie Wrightson, Michael Kaluta, Walt Simonson and Ed Davis.
Citing lack of control over his creation, Chaykin quit and the third issue was produced by writer Gabriel Levy and penciler Jim Craig, with uncredited inkerJim Mooney.1
Fictional character biographies
The protagonist for the first two issues was an immortal adventurer in the 1930s whose then-current identity is Moro Frost.
In the third and final issue, the Scorpion is a present-day superhero, David Harper. This revamp played off an introductory sequence in the first issue that indicated the Scorpion changed his identity every few years, allowing this to be the same man.
The first Scorpion NSc.1 was successfully flight-tested in an Canberra.
Double Scorpion
From 1956 the Double ScorpionNScD.1
was fitted experimentally to two Canberra light bombers, to improve high altitude performance.
A world altitude record of 70,300 feet (21,427m) was set by Canberra WK163 on 28 August 1957. This was on the eve of cancellation of manned aircraft programmes by the 1957 Defence White Paper.
The Double Scorpion was also considered for use in the English Electric P.1A interceptor (which gave rise to the Lightning). The company Aerojet General was chosen for United States production.
Cancellation
The Scorpion project was cancelled in February 1959, at a reported total cost of £1.25 million.
The Spider is a British comic book character who began as a supervillain before becoming a superhero. He appeared in Lion between 26 June 1965 and 26 April 1969 and was reprinted in Vulcan. He was created by writer Ted Cowan and artist Reg Bunn. Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel took over the writing of the character with his third adventure, and would write the bulk of his adventures.
Publication history
The Spider first appeared in The Lion from 26 June 1965 to 26 April 1969, as well as in Lion Annuals from 1967 to 1971. He would later be reprinted in Vulcan from 1975 to 1976. New material was also included in Fleetway's Super Stupendous Library series from 1967 to 1968.
His adventures were also reprinted in other countries, such as Germany (in Kobra), Spain, Italy, France, and others.
2000AD published an "Action Special" featuring The Spider (as well as other characters from the same era) in 1992, but this version (written by Mark Millar at the start of his career) is ill-thought of by most fans, turning The Spider into a cannibal, and tends to be ignored.
In chess, the player who moves first is referred to as "White" and the player who moves second is referred to as "Black". Similarly, the pieces that each conducts are called, respectively, "the white pieces" and "the black pieces". The pieces are often not literally white and black, but some other colors (usually a light color and a dark color, respectively). The 64 squares of the chessboard, which is colored in a checkered pattern, are likewise referred to as "white squares" or "light squares" on the one hand, and "black squares" or "dark squares" on the other. In most cases, the squares are not actually white and black, but a light color and a contrasting dark color. For example, the squares on plastic boards are often off-white ("buff") and green, while those on wood boards are often light brown and dark brown.
In old chess writings, the sides are often called Red and Black, because those were the two colors of ink then commonly available when hand-drawing or printing chess position diagrams.
Black is Lita Ford's sixth studio album and featured a change of style in her music, compared to her other albums. Black sees Ford move into other musical styles such as blues and grunge, while still maintaining her metal and rock roots. There would be a 14-year gap between Black and her next studio album, 2009's Wicked Wonderland.
Track listing
All songs were written by Michael Dan Ehmig and Lita Ford, except where noted.

Camel Cigarettes - "I'd Walk a Mile for a Camel" (1970)
The "I'd Walk a Mile for a Camel" commercial was a long-running advertising campaign for Camel Cigarettes that was created by the Leo Burnett advertising agency in the 1940s. The Rise and Fall of Joe Camel, The Cartoon Who Encouraged Kids to Smoke
The rise and fall of the Joe Camel cartoon is a lesson in disastrous advertising. As a marketing ploy, Joe was allegedly created to draw smokers away from Camel's competitors. The Joe Camel advertising campaigns utilized a masculine camel, or “smooth character,” to create an association between the brand’s cigarettes and the high life. However, when suspicions arose concerning the true audience impacted by these campaigns, attitudes about the smoking ads quickly shifted.

A hawker is a vendor of merchandise that can be easily transported; the term is roughly synonymous with costermonger or peddler. In most places where the term is used, a hawker sells inexpensive goods, handicrafts, or food items. Whether stationary or mobile, hawkers often advertise by loud street cries or chants, and conduct banter with customers, to attract attention and enhance sales.

When accompanied by a demonstration or detailed explanation of the product, the hawker is sometimes referred to as a demonstrator or pitchman.
The terms peddler and hawker are often used synonymously. Social commentator Henry Mayhew wrote "Among the more ancient of the trades, then carried on in England, is that of the hawker or pedlar" and also notes that "the hawker dealt, in the old times, more in textile fabrics than in anything else." In several passages of his work, Mayhew categorises hawkers, hucksters and peddlers as a single group of itinerant salesman and claims that he is unable to say what distinction was drawn between a hawker and a huckster. Mayhew estimated the number of licensed pedlars in 1861 as 14,038 in England, 624 in Wales and 2,561 in Scotland.

The "I'd Walk a Mile for a Camel" commercial was a long-running advertising campaign for Camel Cigarettes that was created by the Leo Burnett advertising agency in the 1940s. The campaign featured a catchy jingle with the lyrics "I'd walk a mile for a Camel" and a visual of a camel walking through various landscapes, including a desert, a city, and a mountain range.
The purpose of the commercial was to promote Camel Cigarettes as a high-quality product that was worth going the extra mile to obtain. The slogan "I'd walk a mile for a Camel" became synonymous with the brand and helped to establish Camel as one of the most popular cigarette brands in the United States.
The commercial was highly successful and ran for many years, becoming one of the most memorable and iconic cigarette advertisements of all time. However, it is important to note that cigarette smoking is a dangerous and unhealthy habit that can lead to serious health problems, including lung cancer and heart disease.

Joe Camel is infamously known for tricking kids into smoking cigarettes, but how did it happen? What is the story behind this innocent-looking cartoon camel? Today I’m going to be deep-diving into the entire story of Joe Camel, the cartoon mascot Camel cigarettes employed in the 1980s that promoted underage smoking. This one simple marketing campaign has quite the bizarre history to it…
