becoming an administrator of an article

[edit]

I need to make modifications to my company's page but as the administrator. The original administrator is no longer with our company and their input would be considered an IP violation. How do I go about this? Thank you. Rochellepaulet (talk) 17:27, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles are not owned by the subject/company they are about. There is no such thing as the "administrator of an article". Wikipedia articles are open to every editor, with one notable exception - editors with a COI, like you, are strongly discouraged from editing the page directly per our policies. You should instead make suggestions on the talk page. If you have questions about how this works, I encourage you to read the plain and simple COI guide here. You can also ask me. —Ganesha811 (talk) 17:49, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that. How do I prevent someone who is under court order to cease and desist with impacting any marketability of the products listed here? I've read the COI but it doesn't refer to legal issues. RatQueen (talk) 17:53, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As well, the edits I made were benign - adding a new product. RatQueen (talk) 17:55, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also provided a citation as requested. RatQueen (talk) 17:57, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia can't enforce court orders - you'd have to ask the court to step in. Your edits were mostly benign, but had a promotional tone and unencyclopedic language. This is the problem with COI edits - marketing-speak just can't help being non-neutral and unencyclopedic. You can use the WP:Edit request wizard to make requests for changes on the talk page, which other editors without a COI will then review. —Ganesha811 (talk) 18:58, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Thanks for the clarity there. As for our message this is regulated by the EPA. We are the only product of this nature on the market. As well we have follow the speak as required by the EPA as an exempt product (FIFRA 25(b)). These are the words they have approved. RatQueen (talk) 22:24, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BTW I appreciate your help and clarifications through all of this. This is the first time I've published for a public, yet EPA regulated organization. RatQueen (talk) 22:25, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I'm happy to help. It's fine for you guys to use the EPA's approved wording in your own marketing, but Wikipedia is not a marketing tool. It's an encyclopedia and its articles are written in its own words, without copying from anywhere else. —Ganesha811 (talk) 22:37, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

November music

Thank you adding the context box to the open letter! - For a surprise, a Bach cantata is on the Main page today, where it was last year for the 300th anniversary, and they were too lazy to find something new ;) - Look at my story, and listen to the 3 whole-tone steps and the dialogues of Fear and Hope. - An open letter open to be signed, - well, you know ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:05, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded more pics, on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:14, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded pics of a trip that was a 10-day celebration of a 16 November event, but the day was also when a dear friend died. We sang Hevenu shalom aleichem at his funeral yesterday, and it was good. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:15, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to create my self --Hashen Fernando (talk) 01:48, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Hennessey

[edit]

Hi can you please put the Dan Hennessey page back up! It has been officially confirmed that he has died at the age 82 on November 13, 2024 and was the voice of BraveHeart Lion in the Care Bears and Chief Quimby in Inspector Gadget. https://www.tmz.com/2024/11/19/cartoon-voice-actor-dan-hennessey-dead/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/dan-hennessey-dies-voice-actor-for-care-bears-braveheart-lion-inspector-gadget-s-chief-quimby-x-men-tv-series-director-was-82/ar-AA1upfsH https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14103791/dan-hennessey-dead-82-cartoon-voice-actor.html 45.3.31.251 (talk) 14:43, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you believe that recent coverage has established Hennessey's notability, then you or anyone else are welcome to recreate the page. However, please note that the Daily Mail and TMZ are not generally considered reliable on Wikipedia. In addition, if the page is substantially unchanged from its prior version, it may be eligible for speedy deletion. Repeated recreations and deletions might result in the page eventually being salted, but that's not too common. —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Maria Trubnikova scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for January 2025. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 2025, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/January 2025. Please keep an eye on that page, as notifications of copy edits to or queries about the draft blurb may be left there by user:JennyOz, who assists the coordinators by reviewing the blurbs, or by others. I also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before it appears on the Main Page. Thanks, and congratulations on your work! SchroCat (talk) 11:14, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Great news! I may make some tweaks to the blurb. Thanks for what you guys do. —Ganesha811 (talk) 12:47, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Henry C. Berghoff

[edit]

Hi. I think the review on Henry C. Berghoff has gone awry (and idle). I'm hopeful that failing it will not discourage the user from trying again but I think the current issue that will need to be resolved is to include page numbers the content is cited on and maybe omitting some images, I think these issues could be progressively resolved but it appears the user is busy at the moment. I'm quite unsure what to do now, and please offer direction on how I might proceed from here Alexeyevitch(talk) 22:25, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you think those are the only issues standing between the article and GA, you have the option of just fixing them yourself and passing the article. If you don't have the time for that, or if there are other outstanding issues, I would recommend closing the review as unsuccessful. It's important for nominators to be available to fix issues in a relatively prompt manner. —Ganesha811 (talk) 22:51, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Maybe the user is very busy or on a vacation of some sort. I am making the unfortunate decision to close it as unsuccessful but I'm hopeful it will not discourage the user to try when they have some time available. I would of done most of the work myself but the article relies on paid online sources or book sources that I don't have access to. Alexeyevitch(talk) 23:16, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
