On January 30, a new exhibition, “Prośby na niby” (Pretend Requests), will open at the Art Walk gallery on Europejski Square, curated by Marcelina Gorczyńska and Kamila Falęcka, initiated by Turnus na Wolskiej. Organized by the “Art in the City” Foundation and Ghelamco Poland.
The New Year inspires hope for a better future, and to celebrate this fresh start, the local Wola initiative Turnus, invited by the “Art in the City” Foundation, presents the exhibition “Prośby na niby,” featuring works by 12 artists.
Turnus, an independent art-curatorial collective led by Kamila Falęcka and Marcelina Gorczyńska since 2020, believes that art flourishes in free, social settings. As the curators explain, the exhibition focuses on “requests,” often seen as casual prompts for fostering relationships and interdependence. Each gallery window is dedicated to one artist’s work, with descriptions created as imaginative “requests” inspired by neighboring pieces, encouraging collaboration and dialogue.
The exhibition highlights how local artistic initiatives can offer new perspectives in urban spaces. Turnus bridges Wola, its base of operations, with Europejski Square, creating an accessible space for dialogue and fresh interpretations of contemporary art. Open-air and accessible seven days a week, the Art Walk gallery ensures an inclusive experience for all visitors.

(media.ghelamco.pl) A sense of humor balances seriousness – and brings perspective. It belongs to those who can forgive – and see themselves from different angles. It shapes worldviews – people with humor approach life differently. Influenced by culture, environment, and personality, it evolves.
"You can't make the world less serious – but many things are absurd," Krzysztof Materna, Deputy Artistic Director of Kraków’s Bagatela Theatre, said.
"I've always been drawn to abstract humor. In the ’90s, everything was being built – providing great comedy material. Sometimes provocation helps people more than they realize. But politicians? They take themselves too seriously. Someone who willingly enters politics simply cannot have a sense of humor – it would cost them the election. Our nation, too, struggles with self-distance; we love laughing at others but hate being laughed at. Imagine suggesting to Polish politicians what the Queen of England did at the London Olympics – it’s unthinkable," he added.
(eNewsroom)

For the first time, every name on Forbes’ 2025 list of Poland’s 100 richest is a billionaire.
