The Management Board of Szczecin Świnoujście Seaports has signed a preliminary agreement with a Belgian-Qatari consortium to construct a Deepwater Container Terminal in Świnoujście. The expansion aims to enable the port to handle ocean-going vessels on intercontinental routes.

The consortium includes Belgian company Deme Concessions, experienced in port basin deepening and marine infrastructure, and QTerminals, a Qatari joint venture specializing in marine terminal operations. With this investment, Świnoujście seeks to challenge German ports and become a competitor to Hamburg. The cooperation between Poland and Qatar extends beyond this project, as they have a long-term gas agreement and a growing partnership.
