Harm Reduction Tools Program
Harm reduction: “a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use” - National Harm Reduction Coalition.
More About Harm Reduction
The spirit of harm reduction is meeting individuals wherever they fall along the spectrum of substance use, recognizing that our relationship to substances is neither linear nor stagnant. SUPER aims to provide harm reduction tools tailored to our community in line with our larger harm reduction approach which includes 5-SURE Safe Rides, 5-SURE on Foot, Cardinal Recovery and The PEERs.
The history of SUPER’s harm reduction supply program is highlighted by partnerships with student ideas and energy. SUPER (formerly OAPE) created the SUPER cup in 2013. Since then we have given out thousands of cups per year! In an effort to support students hosting parties, we also began handing out free wristbands as part of the party planning process in 2012. The Stanford CO-OP (Campus Opioid Overdose Prevention), founded by students in 2020, focuses specifically on training that help prevent opioid overdoses. The ChemX project, founded by students in 2022, has shelves across campus in residences stocked with free naloxone and fentanyl test strips.
Please see below to check out our available supplies.
SUPER Cups
They are distributed upon request at Rogers House and can also be found during SUPER outreach events throughout the academic year, and at PEER workshops.
Naloxone Nasal Spray (Narcan)
Naloxone is available, no questions asked, at Rogers house and is stocked in ChemX shelves in the residences. We ask that students complete our online training or attend an in-person training at the Well House.
