During some of the iciest challenges yet, a competitive contestant asserts herself as team leader while a cunning person continues to ruin his team's chances at winning. Meanwhile, someone grows fearful of his secret being discovered, and someone is framed by a villain. Ultimately, this brilliant contestant is thrown off the island while someone else returns as an intern.
Plot
The episode opens with the contestants eating their breakfast. Sam tries some of the gruel but spits it out onto Scott's face, realizing why "gruel" rhymes with "cruel." He tries to apologize, but Scott retaliates by throwing his bowl at Sam's face.
Scott |
“ | (laughs) Wimp. I grew up on a dirt farm, I can always chump on a claude if I get the munchies. | ” |
Cameron is then seen choking over the fumes of Anne Maria's hairspray. She then apologizes and tells him that at least his lungs are waterproof now. Next, Brick and Jo are seen competing to finish their food first, but Brick swallows and chokes on his spoon in the process. Jo then smacks him to dislodge the spoon, which hits Mike in the face and causes him to transforms into Chester, amusing Zoey in the process by his "act," hoping he really is joking.
Mike |
“ | Okay, okay, I admit it. I—I have multiple personality type disorder. I try to control them, but they never listen to me. | ” |
Lightning is then shown choking on his gruel, and Dawn comes to save him. Lightning thanks Dawn for saving him, and Dawn responds by saying that she wasn't saving him, but a beetle that Lightning had accidentally swallowed. Meanwhile, Cameron sees what he recognizes as a "oppotamus ovaticus" — a big-brained mouse — crawl into the main lodge, thinking it's cute. However, when he tries to pet it, the mouse levitates in the air with telekinetic powers, causing him and all of the contestants to run outside.
Over the PA system, Chris then announces the first part of their next challenge: to race up to Mt. Looming Tragedy. Once at the base of the mountain, Chris explains the challenge to the contestants: they must first climb up a mountain to the top while avoiding the ice blocks that Chef throws at them. The first to the top would get an advantage in part two of the challenge. Chris also states that the contestants could either climb with their hands or use whatever is in a pile of junk, guarded by a giant mutant beetle. Chef then blows his horn and everyone sets off.
When climbing up the cliff, Cameron has trouble from the start, not being able to get a few feet off the ground, while Zoey, who is trying to motivate Cameron, is rescued from a breaking tree branch by Mike. They then are seen gazing into each other's eyes and smiling, until Jo interrupts their moment in order to yell at them to climb. Jo then tells Brick that her parents used to make her climb walls. Brick then replies that he also climbed in his sergeant boot camp and that he dislocated his head while trying to get his obstacle-course badge. He then tries to show off to Jo but dislocates his arm as well.
Meanwhile, as Lightning climbs the wall alongside Scott, Jo tells Lightning to be prepared to lose to a girl, again, to which Lightning once again didn't know what girl she was talking about, still thinking Jo is a boy. Back at the bottom of the cliff, Chris asks Anne Maria if she will even participate, as she hasn't even started the challenge, due to her nails, specifying they are the reason she drives with her feet. Also at the bottom are Dawn, who can't even reach the first rock, and Sam, who has slid back down the mountain and announced that he was done with this challenge. Dawn then reassures Sam by sensing that B has a plan, which Sam hopes it does not involve climbing.
Back on the top of the cliff, Lightning is still climbing, while knocking rocks over to slow down the Maggots, putting them at the base of the mountain once more. Then, as B tries to start his plan, the mutant beetle breathes fire at him. Dawn then goes to distract the beetle's "tortured soul," when Sam takes a recorder, which he plays badly, making the beetle attack Sam and allowing B continue with his project. The Maggots, that are still at the bottom, follow B's plan by digging through the junk pile.
Back at the top of the mountain, Chef spots Lightning almost at the top. Chris then signals Chef to start dropping ice blocks, which hit Lightning and Scott back down the mountain side, while Jo uses reverse psychology by angering Anne Maria, prompting her to climb the cliff in order to reach Jo.
Jo |
“ | Every team has a weak link. As leader, it's my job to find that link and manipulate it into doing whatever I want. Huh, leadership has its perks. | ” |
Mike, Zoey, and Cameron use items from the junk pile — a rope, two toilet plungers, and chewed bubble gum, respectively — in order to help them climb. Meanwhile, as Sam is still getting beat up by the giant beetle, Dawn realizes why the beetle must be distraught, so she releases it, and the little beetle reunites with its mother. Sam then complains about B's plan taking place as he got clobbered by the beetle, thinking he collected trash; however, B signals them to sit on the couch, which he uses as a rocket when he makes two wires touch. As Jo reaches the top of the cliff and celebrates, the Toxic Rats get their whole team to the top first, although Scott falls on the ground in the process. The Rats win the first part of the challenge, which angers Jo, since Chris specifies she needed her whole team with her. Anne Maria reaches the top of the cliff and angrily rushes to punch Jo, who moves out of the way and lets Brick take the hit instead, causing him to fall off the mountain, much to Chris's delight.
Scott |
“ | Okay, seriously. Beverly the explosives expert mime has to go! | ” |
The second challenge is a "Capture the Flag" challenge, where each of the teams pick an ice castle as a fort and must destroy each others' castles, either by melting them or with snowballs, in order to capture the other team's flag. Also, they must elect a team captain. The Rats get to pick their fort, either the poorly or greatly constructed fort, due to them winning the last challenge. Scott thought that a fort that looks good on the outside wasn't good on the inside resulting his team taking the bad fort, which turns out to be worse.
Scott |
“ | All part of the plan! [awkward chuckle] Is it hot in here? | ” |
In the Mutant Maggots' fort, Brick and Jo thumb wrestle to decide who will be their team's captain, and Jo ends up breaking Brick's thumb, earning her his respect. Jo orders Brick, Anne Maria, and Zoey to be on offense with the mission to capture the Rats' flag, while the rest — herself, Cameron, Mike — will stay will defend the fort and fire the snowballs. Before Zoey leaves, Mike warns Zoey about Scott, thinking he is psycho, while Zoey hopes he doesn't get hurt as Svetlana.

Inside the Toxic Rats' fort, Scott proclaims himself the captain, ordering Lightning and Sam to capture the Maggots' flag, while he, Dawn, and B stay in the fort. Sam tries to complain but is interrupted by Chris, who orders them to begin the challenge. Being tired from running, Sam slips into the ice and slides all the way. As he passes Lightning, he makes a joke about the "thunder" arriving before the "lightning," himself being "thunder," all this right before stops and the ice below him breaks, causing him to fall into freezing water. Back inside the fort, B comes up with the plan to sculpt a melting device, showing many tools inside his jacket, while Scott is arguing with Dawn, who had asked him to listen to the snowball full of negative energy, but he ignores her and picks up the snowball, which blows up in his face, prompting her to say something about his life as a child.
Scott |
“ | Okay, she's gotta go, too! | ” |
Dawn picks a snowball for Scott to throw, with which he successfully hits the Maggots' fort. Jo orders her teammates to attack, but both Cameron is guarding the flag while Anne Maria is spraying her hair, angering Jo, who throws her spray can away so she can manipulate her into helping in the challenge. As Anne Maria walks towards the opposing team's fort, she is hit by a snowball, which is deflected by her pouffed hair, giving Brick an idea that Zoey tries to discourage, but he pushes her anyway, using her as a shield. Then, when Lightning tries to pull him out, he gets knocked out by a snowball.
The giant beetle emerges from the snow as Scott continues to throw snowballs. Scott, who is terrified, tries to remind it of its family reunion, and Dawn waves at it, calming the beetle. Scott commands the beetle to attack them instead, impressing Dawn and referring to Scott as a "beetle whisperer," which he tries to dismiss. On the side of the fourt, B is seen mounting his melting device, which he now uses to melt the Maggots' fort, causing Jo tells Mike to do his Svetlana "act" and get on the catapult, but as he tries to explain he cannot control his "impressions," he summons Svetlana, getting on the catapult and flying into the other team's fort. He then emerges from the snow as a new personality known as Vito, who acts tough by removing his shirt and pushing Scott aside, which Anne Maria finds attractive. When Vito gets the flag, Zoey urges him to return to their fort, but he refuses, fighting everyone in his way and impressing Anne Maria, shoving Scott off from the castle through its window.
When Scott gets up, he notices Jo desperately shoveling snow back to the Maggots' fort while Cameron is being attacked by the beetles, and realizes the his team is about to win; therefore, in order to throw the challenge and eliminate his teammates, he throws a snowball at B's melting device, tilting the mirror to reflect the heat back at Sam, which also reflects on the Rats' fort, causing it to melt. As Scott tries to frame B for sabotage, Chris annouces that the Mutant Maggots are the winners of the challenge and, also, a reward: McLean brand hot chocolate.

Back in camp, the Toxic Rats, who are sitting in front of their cabin, discuss whom to vote out next. Scott tries to convince everyone to eliminate B, giving them many fake reasons: "B" stands for "Bad man"; someone so secretive that does not even talk is not trustworthy; he hates nature, something Dawn would dislike; and he calls Lightning "fizzle."
Lightning |
“ | B might've messed with the challenge, but Sam messed with the Lightning! Time for Thunder to say Shabye-bye. Hey, can somebody write that down? | ” |
At the elimination ceremony, Scott sets up B in order for Dawn and Sam to vote him off, but before Chris can reveal whether B or Sam would be sent to the Hurl of Shame, Dakota flies in on a glider. She confesses that she didn't need the money, but wanted more camera time. After her father calls Chris and offered an extravagant amount of money, she becomes an intern on the show, but does not compete for the million dollar prize. B is then voted off, given the Marshmallow of Toxic Loserdom and is launched out on the Hurl of Shame before he could ever actually speak, which makes Scott happy. Chris then signs off for the episode.
