The only thing you’re missing is an OLED display, but otherwise, this is a much more palatable price.

When I first reviewed the Garmin Forerunner 255, I said it was a steal for runners who wanted dual-frequency GPS at a more palatable price. Well, thanks to Prime Day discounts, it’s even more palatable at $219.99 — a whopping 45 percent off list price.

Dual-frequency GPS makes a big difference for accuracy, but most other watches with it still cost a pretty penny. Garmin’s Epix watch is also on sale for $560, but that has more bulk and costs over $300 more. (But it’s also a good deal if you like a bigger watch and OLED displays.) Personally, I like lighter smartwatches for running, and the Forerunner is an excellent option for marathoners on a budget.

The Forerunner 255 Music has dual-frequency GPS for more accurate tracking as well as contactless payments.

Technically, there is a newer Forerunner 265 model, but the main thing you’re getting from it is an OLED display. If you’re a no-frills runner, the 255’s memory-in-pixel screen nets you longer battery life and all the same training features. Plus, this deal is for the Music model, meaning you can store your offline playlists on there. It also has Garmin Pay for contactless payments.
