NAI Membership Benefits
As the leading self-regulatory association for digital advertising technology companies, the NAI (Network Advertising Initiative) offers its members many impactful benefits.
Public Policy Advocacy
Influence the policy conversation in D.C., as well as states, and set our industry’s agenda for policymakers:
- The NAI is the leading association representing advertising technology companies before Congress, the Executive Branch, state legislators, and other policymakers. The NAI promotes public policies that balance the need for strong consumer data privacy protections with preserving the robust, data-driven digital advertising industry. NAI members set the agenda for NAI’s public policy engagement. See our latest public policy engagement here.
- The NAI is more than just an advocate; we are a partner committed to helping our members achieve strategic goals that align with public policies. Membership provides companies with a role in shaping the ad-tech industry and in setting the national conversation around data privacy.
Regulatory Engagement
Gain insights about the regulatory environment and contribute to educating regulators:
- In conjunction with our public policy advocacy efforts, the NAI engages deeply with federal and state regulators in the U.S., such as the FTC and state attorneys general, to gain a better understanding of their legal interpretations, objectives, and priorities.
- As the enforcement of privacy laws in the U.S. continues to ramp up, the NAI is a consistent, credible voice to regulators, providing a practical point of view about how those laws apply to a complex digital advertising ecosystem. See examples of our latest comments to state and federal regulators, as well as legal analysis and industry best practices related to key privacy issues.
- The NAI also plays an instrumental role in educating regulators and enforcement officials about how NAI’s framework, guidance and best practices align with legal requirements.
Privacy Consultation Program
Show your commitment to industry-leading privacy practices
- The NAI’s commitment to providing leading standards and best practices for companies is well-known among industry participants and regulators. By joining the NAI, members can demonstrate a clear commitment to best-in-class standards to prospective business partners and regulators.
- NAI member companies participate in the annual Privacy Consultation Program. This includes meetings with expert NAI staff to review members’ privacy processes to help them adhere to the NAI Principles. These Privacy Consultations also bolster members’ compliance posture by addressing voluntary standards, guidance, and best practices promulgated by the NAI and how they relate to the member’s business, as well as providing context for how meeting those best practices can facilitate compliance with privacy law requirements.
- The NAI Privacy Consultations also help members with benchmarking against similarly situated peer companies. The NAI provides insights into how the rest of the industry is addressing the most challenging new state and federal requirements, including global privacy controls, geofencing restrictions, mandatory disclosures, consumer rights, contracting, due diligence, and sensitive information such as health, ethnicity, political, and children’s data.
- More information about the Privacy Consultation Program here.
Note: The NAI does not provide legal advice or act as counsel for member companies.
