The Red Phoenix (Vermillion Bird) is one of the Four Guardian Gods and the anima of Minho, the little boy shown being protected by Yul-bi in the beginning of the story. In order to disguise it's identity, it takes the form of a sparrow.

Plot[]

The Red Phoenix, being one of the Four Guardian Gods, is one of the most powerful animals and anima. Similar to the other Four Guardian Gods it only has one contractee per generation. However, unlike the other gods, children born to the Phoenix are typically shunned because every time a child is born to the Phoenix a volcano erupts.

In the original reality, the power of the Phoenix is accidentally acquired by the Black Tortoise when Minho is devoured at the port with Yul-bi. In the future when Irang turns back time to when he made his first wish, he saves Minho from the port keeping the power of the Phoenix safe.

Powers and Abilities:[]

The Red Phoenix has the ability to bring back others from the past. This is shown through Minho's wish in the epilogue to bring back Irang since he heard that the person who saved him at the dock had disappeared. Minho's wish is for Irang to return to his family which the Phoenix fulfills. Unlike the other Guardian Gods who cruelly take something from their contractee in exchange for a wish, the Phoenix simply disappears leaving its contractee as the child of a Sparrow. The Phoenix disappears until another child is born to it.
