The Shining Light Liberation Army (SLLA) is a far-left terrorist organization based in the Philippines (with underground cells in other locations around the world such as New York City) that killed Kimiko's parents and kidnapped her along with her brother. They forced them to join their army and subsequently some years later, sent Kimiko to America, where she underwent Compound V testing, ultimately becoming a Supe. Afterwards, her brother, Kenji, also was later injected with Compound V and sent to America as well.
History[]
Not much is known of the organization outside their activities and roles into Kimiko's and Kenji's capture. One night, soldiers of the organization entered the Miyashiro's house and killed the parents before capturing the children. Years later after participating in their militant activities, now adult Kimiko would attempt to escape, while Kenji would end up sympathizing with the group's ideas and joining their cause by accepting their leadership's authority and voluntarily submitting to their V genetic testing experiments. Both would end up becoming separate test subjects for V, where Kimiko is found by The Boys.
The Shining Light Liberation Army is first mentioned in "The Innocents" where Kimiko's history with the group is revealed to and by Mesmer, with Butcher deducing the organization. Kenji also mentions the SLLA in "Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men" while explaining Kimiko's sign language.
