Dr. Sameer Shah is a recurring character and later an antagonist in Season Four of the Amazon series The Boys. He is a former leading scientist at the Vought R&D Department, lover of Victoria Neuman, and the father of Zoe Neuman.
Background[]
Very little is known about Sameer, other than he used to work for Vought as the lead scientist of R&D Department and Stan Edgar considered him his "Right-hand man." When Sameer began a romantic relationship with Edgar's daughter, Victoria Neuman, Edgar had him fired. Despite Edgar's disapproval, the two continued their relationship and eventually had a child together named Zoe.
Following the events of Gen V, Victoria had converted part of her estate into a virology lab. She placed Sameer in charge of developing The Woods virus and with the goal of making it strong enough to kill Homelander. Sameer and his team would test the virus on several animals injected with Compound V and V24 to increase its severity. One day however, a Supe hamster had broken out and destroyed the lab. Their samples of Compound V would pollute the ground water and turn the farm animals into Supes. Sameer and his team would flee from the V'd-up animals until only he and his mortally wounded assistant, Henry remained. Sameer and Henry would hide out in one of the barns until Henry succumb to his wounds and Sameer was left alone.

"Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son"[]
Sameer was hiding in a barn from sheep, bull, and other animals that had Compound V within their bloodstream, mutating them into Supes. When The Boys went to search Neuman's estate for the virus, they made a temporary truce to find Sameer. The group was chased by the V'd-up sheep and retreated into the nearby barn. Victoria found Sameer and the two embraced. Sameer explains what had happened and reveals he has the last sample of the virus. The group argues over whether or not to use the virus to kill the sheep until M.M takes charge and orders them to use the virus. Sameer injects the virus into Henry's body and tosses the body outside for the sheep to eat it. The plan works until the sheep attack the barn and force the group to run outside. The virus works and kills the sheep, but Sameer is presumed to be killed during the chase with only his leg remaining.
Secretly, it's reveal that Butcher faked Sameer's death by severing his leg. Butcher reveals to Joe Kessler that he had taken Sameer prisoner and tasks Sameer with recreating the Supe virus.
"Dirty Business"[]
Sameer is awakened by Butcher in an abandoned Vought Fresh Farms. Butcher orders Sameer to recreate the virus and threatens him with torture if he doesn't comply. Sameer refuses and Butcher tortures Sameer by grabbing his wounded leg. Butcher tells Sameer he has a week to create a virus strong enough to kill Homelander. Sameer claims it will take months and Butcher's demands are impossible, but Butcher insists he only has a week. Butcher later wheels in a chart full of lab equipment and orders Sameer to begin working. Sameer continues to refuse, so Butcher asks for just one dose and then he'll release him. Sameer explains he realized during the lab trials that to make the virus strong enough to kill Homelander, it would also make the virus extremely volatile. Sameer warns Butcher the virus could mutate and become airborne, which would kill every Supe across the planet. For the sake of protecting Victoria and Zoe, Sameer refuses to comply.
"The Insider"[]
Butcher relays this information to The Boys and orders Frenchie and Kimiko to guard Sameer. Sameer remains shackled as The Boys make him recreate the virus. Frenchie helps Sameer with recreating the virus and provides him with the necessary equipment. Sameer warns Frenchie that Butcher is hallucinating but Frenchie ignores it. Sameer then asks Frenchie if they're only using the virus on Homelander and not Victoria. Frenchie nods in response. While Sameer works, Frenchie and Kimiko debate what they should do with Sameer after he finishes the virus. The two consider releasing him to spite Butcher. Sameer finishes recreating a single sample of the virus and presents it to the two. Unbeknownst to them, Sameer has destroyed his restraints and injects the virus into Kimiko's leg. Sameer escapes while Frenchie amputates Kimiko's leg to save her.
Following his escape, Sameer met up with Victoria and confessed The Boys kidnapped him to recreate the virus. What became of Sameer after this is unknown.
