Background[]
Rufus was born in the early 2000s, and shortly after his birth, his parents accepted Vought's offer to inject him with Compound V, subsequently transforming him into a Supe and granting him superhuman powers and abilities.

Rufus is seen in the Godolkin University orientation video.
In the courtyard, Rufus talks with Jeremy while surrounded by students.
"First Day"[]
At Richard Brinkerhoff's memorial site, Rufus jokes about Golden Boy's death, which he and his friends laugh at. Cate approaches them and asks what they were laughing about, wondering whether it was about Golden Boy. Rufus denies this; however, Cate uses her powers on him, forcing him to reveal the joke to her. After hearing the off-handed comment, and still using her powers, Cate orders Rufus to go out and buy a baseball bat, then hit himself in the nuts while shouting "Jumanji!" Rufus nonchalantly agrees and walks away with his friends.
Later that day, Rufus is seen hitting himself in the nuts using a bat while shouting "Jumanji!"

The Sweaty Supe questions Rufus if he's a Supe, to which Rufus states "No shit, asshole." before walking away. Unbeknownst to Rufus, the Sweaty Supe then asks Professor Ibarra the same question. When Ibarra answers no, the Supe grabs her face and starts melting it. Rufus turns around when he hears Ibarra's screams and records the murder.

Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Telepathy: Rufus possesses devious telepathic abilities, letting him hear the thoughts of others, see into their minds, and search their memories for specific information. In contrast to most telepaths, Rufus' powers only require proximity to his target.
- Hypnosis: He is capable of hypnotizing people's minds at close range, putting them into a trance-like state.
- Clairvoyance: Through objects belonging to targets, Rufus can acquire information using sight outside the normal range of detection. After receiving a dress belonging to Emma Meyer, Rufus pinpointed her precise location and discovered that she was with Sam Riordan.
- Astral Projection: With intense focus, Rufus can separate his astral form from his physical body, allowing for perception, interaction, and travel independent of mental or physical limitations.
- Superhuman Durability: Rufus possesses superhuman durability, making him more durable than humans and some Supes. He endures several of Jordan Li's energy blasts, even quickly getting up to regain his balance right after. Furthermore, Rufus is forcibly pushed through the air by a metal keg controlled by Andre Anderson, slamming through concrete walls and sliding doors without suffering any injuries.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Rufus possesses an unspecified accelerated healing factor, as he has apparently recovered quickly from his injury in which Marie Moreau exploded his penis.
- Superhuman Hearing: Rufus possesses superhuman hearing, allowing him to hear better than humans. Like all Supes, he can hear higher frequencies that humans cannot.[1]
Weaknesses[]
Biological[]
- Brute Force/Limited Durability: Despite being more durable than humans, Rufus can still be stunned, knocked unconscious, and killed by extreme force. Andre chokes Rufus, threatening to kill him by breaking his neck.
- Close Range Required: Rufus has a major limitation when using his powers, he needs to be extremely close to the person to use his telepathy, like he did with Marie and Andre. Supes with long-range attacks can easily avoid him, such as when Jordan managed to keep him away using their energy blast.
- High Frequencies: Due to being a Supe, Rufus is susceptible to high frequencies. When a high frequency is playing, it can induce immense pain and temporarily neutralize him. During a massacre at Godolkin University, Rufus is momentarily neutralized through the use of a high-frequency alarm.

Trivia[]
- Rufus is named after roofies, a type of date-rape drug. The creators regard him as a walking roofie.[2]
- In an earlier script of the show, Rufus was going to lead a secret club of Supes, likely called the "Monster Club," who knew Godolkin.[3]
